I've played it, and it's really good. The music is a little heavy on the "sweeping space-opera orchestralshit", though.

I was actually trying to do a video review on the game at work but kept getting interrupted, plus it went a little on the long end. I'm currently at 50 stars.

I got Mario Galaxy on Thanksgiving day. I was at my uncle's lake estate and there wasn't anything to do, so I decided I'd buy a videogame. I couldn't put it down. At the end of yesterday, I had 92 stars. On top of that, my uncle has this really huge ass tv, another reason I couldn't stop playing.

I tried to buy a Wii for this and Metroid, but I can't find them anywhere and really don't need one, so i'll have to wait till next year. It pisses me off though, because all my friends have Wii's, and zero of them have this or metroid.

I have this game, and I like it, but one thing that pisses me off is having to collect X number of star bits just to unlock a galaxy that only has one star to collect. It doesn't take any longer than three minutes to get said star either.

In all honesty, is it too easy? It seems a lot more linear than Mario 64 and even Sunshine. Of course I haven't played any of it, I'm just going by the gameplay videos.

I beat the Ray Racing thing on my first try. Go figure.

It's an awesome game, I have to say.

Ray Racing's got nothing on that damn Super Monkey Ball-esque balance ball stage (btw, there're at least two of each such stage in the game).

There are three instances where you do the rolling ball.

1. Rolling Green Galaxy.

2. The Trial Galaxy (which is the hardest).

3. There is this part in one of the Melty Molten Galaxy stars that has a section where you guide the ball.

In my opinion, the hardest star in the game is the Purple Coin star in Toy Time Galaxy. You have to collect at least 100 of the 150 coins given to you. You collect them on an 8-bit Luigi while avoiding shrinking platforms, flipping platforms, and dark matter. You are given a 3-minute time limit, but even without it, you couldn't take your time even if you wanted to.

I haven't come across that one yet, but I'm already groaning of another ball stage.

And I completely agree about Toy Time during the Purple Comet. I can't remember how many times I fix myself into a corner. Flying Mario would be awesome (despite the odd controls)

241, no that's not a typo.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/review/R121051.html

I hate this review even more than I hate the Conker one I posted earlier. The person keeps bitching about the game not being factually accurate and how it's "not a gun".

EDIT: The review has been taken off.

Wow, what a douche. He actually says the game is not realistic. Since when has Mario been about being realistic?!

I stopped reading after that.

A quick glimpse at his reputation has him also giving 4s to Bioshock and Oblivion on the 360.

And, he also has a Top Ten list of the Top Ten "Non-Games", yet 8 of the software titles he listed are, in fact, games. Brain Age and Nintendogs would be the only 2 I would consider to be "non-games".

Jesus-child molesting-puppy-raping-donkey-punching-grandmother-violationg-poop-on-chesting-Pat-Robertson Christ holy fuck no it isn't easy. This was the hardest game I have had to play in a long, long, long fucking time. As of about 20 minutes ago, I just got 121 stars with both Mario and Luigi, and honestly, if I never played Super Mario Galaxy again, I think I would die happy. I would rather be forced to play Contra 3 on hard mode for eternity than ever play that ridiciously hard piece of shit again. I hope you fucking "OMG this game isn't hard enough" fanboys are happy, because this game was way too hard to be considered a decent game. Let alone with the realms of Mario 64.

The 100 purple coin missions? A fucking nightmare! Especially with Luigi. I died 647 times total with Luigi, I shit you not. As I was watching over the credits I kept a keen eye for the level designers so can I murder each and every one of them. Running around with the Rainbow star destroying everything in your path? That's fun. Dying 100 times because of a "boss daredevil" run...awful fucking idea. Who the fuck do Nintendo think they are? Using speed run and 1 live run internet novelties in an actual game? Way to be fucking creative, assholes. I also think its pathetic that this is supposed to be the most "epic out there mario game ever" with ooooo space, yet you can only go after 1 star when you first start the world. Remember how in Mario 64 on the bob-omb battlefield where the assigned star was killing king bob-omb, and even then you could walk right up the giant chomp and set him free, thus getting the sixth star and opening up a whole fuckload of level options when you enter the painting again? That's fucking freedom in a video game.

In conclusion, fuck the Spring Suit, the Boo suit, and pretty much any suit in that game. Mario used to touch a Fireflower and only lose it when he gets hit, now there's a fucking time limit? What a crock of shit. I am so fucking burnt out, Ozzy Osbourne doesn't have shit on me right now.

If you could keep fire power until you got hit it would probably break the game and make it too easy.

I didn't think the game was that hard. The star I had the most trouble with was I think Bubble Blast Galaxy, one of those special galaxies where you're traveling around in bubbles and hoping you don't hit anything. I ended up dying around 20 times before I got it with Mario. When I did it again with Luigi it was significantly easier. A few others tripped me up, like the stupid 100 purple coins in one minute star in the Ghostly Galaxy with those fucking pull-stars, but I never had any problems with the daredevil runs.

Also there's 242 stars, not 241; you can get the last one with Mario and Luigi.

As for what you said about Mario 64....sure, you could get the 6th star right away, but if I remember correctly, you can only still battle King Bob-omb when you go back in; you couldn't race Koopa the Quick until you got past the first star.
