If you can't get the rights to Bad Dudes, I just remembered an idea that I had several years ago that was along similar lines. It's not *quite* the same though, because making a Bad Dudes movie in all but name would be terrible.
About eight years, back when I was in high school, I worked with greeneyedzeke. When it was slow (which was almost always), we used to come up with intentionally bad ideas for horror movies to entertain each other. One of my favorites was a horror movie I came up with called Presidents' Day and it went something like this:
The movie takes place sometime between May 1994 and 1999, sometime after Richard Nixon died but before Clinton left office. The plot goes like this: A truck carrying strange and dangerous chemicals (!!!) crashes into Arlington National Cemetary. The chemicals spill into the ground where they resurrect John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon as power-hungry undead ghouls. Nevermind the fact that Nixon is not actually buried in Arlington. Nixon and Kennedy team up and get their hands on more of the chemical, which they use to resurrect an army of Confederate soldiers to do their bidding. The duo then seize control of the White House and hold President Clinton hostage. The only ones who can save the day are two ne'er-do-well badasses. The paternal grandfather of one of the badasses, a WWII veteran, also joins the quest as the token good ghoul. But in order to sneak into the White House, the guys need the assistance of someone with an intimate knowledge of the building and its many secret passage, so they seek out President Reagan. After receiving an impassioned speech about he *has* to remember and that he is the only hope, Reagan magically overcomes his Alzheimer's, leads the team into the mansion, and turns out to be surprisingly skilled zombie killing machine.
OK, so that's almost nothing like Bad Dudes. But it has Presidents and campy action.

As a producer, I'd probably option that idea, but then change it drastically.

Syd, why do it when Clinton was in office? I thought you wanted Zombie Reagan to save the day, not regular Reagaon. And speaking of your bad holiday themed horror movies, whatever happened to "Arbor Day: When the Trees Fought Back"?

Seeing as the idea was conceived a full six years before Reagan died, no. There was never any plan for a Zombie Reagan. That was something someone was telling you about from a website somewhere. Ideally it would take place right after Nixon died in 1994. That way there could be all sorts of jokes ripping on the 90s the way people used to rip on the 80s.
Plus, having Clinton in office opens the door to lines like "I did not have sexual relations with that zombie."

You might also pitch the idea under the title "Return of the Living Dead Presidents".
A highly humorous B horror flick concept. Sounds like something Sci-Fi Channel could do instead of "Necropolis" or "House of the Dead 2". Well, I don't know if SF did the latter... but it went direct-to-TV on one o' them channels...

Hey Syd, could you (or anyone else here) grab a Bad Dudes arcade screenshot in 2-player mode? Basically, I'm looking for an in-game pic of player 2, and I can't seem to find one...

Blast From The Past was a decent film, and the price is certainly right. It's on ABC Family often enough and it's in the Wal*Mart bargain bin. And the cast is great... Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone, Christoper Walken, David Foley, that's good times.

Well, for anyone who still remembers this thread, I've finally found a contact. I still don't hold out a lot of hope for getting a Bad Dudes movie off the ground, but I'm once again seriously looking into getting the rights. Rights which I probably can't afford, but we'll see.

If you do get the rights to the movie, make sure you replace Reagan w/a president worth saving.

Man, all of the recent presidents suck.
How about he saves the only clone of Teddy Roosevelt? Between his trustbusting, strongarmed foreign policy, and pleasing environmental record, he pleases both sides.
Except for libertarians, but then we can just give them a copy of "Atlas Shrugged" to jack off to.

Of course! I mean, without Reagan, it's...
Well, I guess it's the NES port.
