Or if a deaf person dreams, do they hear?

Discuss.

Actually no, they'll usually describe their dreams within the context of the senses they still have.

Hm, interesting. I heard a thing on Coast to Coast last night, where this blind lady had a couple of near-death experiences and she claims to have been able to see during those sequences. I thought it sounded weird, because if you'd never had sight, how would you know what it was like, right?

I have blind cousins and i asked him what he sees when he closes his eyes and he sorta described it as a lot of disjunctive shapes.

side not they now have computers for the blind and programs that orally tell you what website your looking at. now everyone can look at porn.

Yeah, I'm most blind. When I dream I don't see it any better than I do in real life so I can't see (LOLOLOLOLOLOL) why a totally blind person would see better (in their case at all) when they dreamed.

I think it would depend on whether the person was born blind or not.

If they were born blind they would have no idea what sight was like, and they wouldn't have any frame of reference, so I'd say no.

If they became blind later in life, however, I'd say it would be quite possible.

Huh, interesting topic. Now it makes me wonder if my vision in my dreams is at all affected by own somewhat weak eyes in real life, I don't seem to remember my dreams being blurry...

Well my aunt and uncle had 3 blind children all of whom were born blind. The books they have are sorta like braille pop up books where they can feel ad get familar with shapes. They get used to sizes and simple patterns.

My dreams are blurry, like when I don't have my glasses on. But I can make them become in-focus by using lucid dreaming.

My Psychology book says no, but that they do in fact have vivid dreams involving the other senses and emotions normally involved.

Would a nightmare be scarier when you can only hear the monster coming for you?

The pope poops in peoples shoes. He thinks its funny.

Androids dream of a sky the color of a TV turned to a dead channel.

God, I love lucid dreaming. It's hard to do, but having the ability to summon any chick to have sex with you is awesome.

Interesting Question. I'd imigine they would sort of 'see' the dream in a visual representation of their own mind's design. For instance, when we dream, we see things (usually) as we have learn from our own experiences. Because Blind people cannot see and so probably do not know what objects look like, their mind might design some pretty freaky shit for them,

But that's just pure assumption.

And as for deaf people: perhaps they just dream everyone is speaking in sign? But I dunno what they might do as for background noise....

Yes. I am a bad enough dude to save the president.

I'm surprised no one has made a "I can do that when I'm awake" joke.

Deaf people would probably continue to see mouth movement. I've heard a rumor that you cant actually read during dreams, so signing would do no good.

That was a plot device on an episode of Batman:TAS. Mad Hatter sedated Batman and trapped him in a fantasy world by implanting one of his special computer chips into Bats. Batman eventually figured out it was a dream and somehow shorted it out with his mind.

I'm also pretty sure it's not true. I've had dreams where I've seen store names, newspaper headlines, various bills, flyers, news tickers, and other text. At least, I *think* I have. It's impossible to know if I'm actually seeing words of if I'm seeing incomprehensible gibberish and my mind just assigns it a logical meaning.

Yeah. His life was all awesome and his parents were still alive, but when he went to read a book, it was all gibberish. I remember that.

I think in a dream, you don't need to read it, you just know what it says somehow.

You can read words in a dream, but when you go back to read it again it says something completely different.
