I too am hoping for a more challenging (and longer) 2D Mario platformer. I still pull out NSMB and play it every once in a while, but man it was too easy and there's not nearly enough levels.
I know they'll make one happen eventually, I just don't want to wait another 14 years for it.

When I brought NSMB, yeah, it was fun as hell, but I blazed through it by the end of the night.
I think I've played it only once more to try to speedrun it...
