Someone sucessfully returned a gutted XBOX 360 for cash. They kept the console's internals, and returned the shell stuffed with paper, cardboard, and other crap. So who's to blame here? The sneaky customer or the dipshit store employee who took the return without checking it?

Taking advantage of something at an opportunity is human nature. If anyone else knew they could've gotten away with this, and they could keep the 360 innards functioning, I bet more people would be doing this exact same thing.

It looks like someone went overboard trying to make the 360 backwards compatible!

Get it? Because he removed all the ...nevermind. Just forget it.

we know he's human, and has similar human wants as the rest of us.. however what he did is brilliant, and i can't beleive they didn't test the console before purchase, isn't that normal policy to do, when they buy used stuff from people?

when they say he gutted it, they just mean hard-drive, or did he somehow take all the neccesarry components you need to play x-box 360 ouf of the machine and still be able to use the system, after he makes another container for it.

Click on the link. He gave them back the empty console "shell" stuffed with cardboard and old computer cables. He could either use the system "naked", or order one of those aftermarket x360 console cases online for like $20.

This kind of thing used to happen at Wal-Mart all the time before they tightened up their return policies. A lot of times the ladies working the counter don't know the specifics of the products (ie, a 360 is kinda heavier than an empty casing would be), so they just open it, give it a once-over, and pass it along. And it's of no loss to W-M because they still can send it back anyway.

In the money sense, it's really a non-loss for everyone involved. But it is shady.

Back in the day, the kids used to buy PC games from EB, copy the disks and return the game.

There used to be a Mom & Pop video store in my town that rented PC games. I think after people rented all of the PC games once, and never rented them again, they caught on on got rid of their selection.

The high point to that was that I bought Wing Commander 3 for $5 from them, when it was still selling new for $40.
