Check this shit out.
This guy has invented a machine that turns water into HHO gas, which can power welding equipment and even his car cleanly, safely, and cheaply. If this does what prelim tests have shown it can do, the world is in for some ridiculous changes.

It's rare I ever swear like a sailor at a news story, but
HOLY GODDAM MOTHER FUCKING SHIT ASS CHRIST!!!
I almost can't believe that video. If that invention exists and gets exposed to the world, we'd be living in one cool ass world.
Plus, I can't believe how dense those news anchors are
Random tangent thought:
Didn't I see something like this in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake? I don't think OILIX worked out so well there... could this technology start World War III?

There was an episode of The Lone Gunmen (I mean the X-Files spin-off) where they actually came across a car that ran on water. They wound up destroying it because if it was mass produced it would lead to more roads and devastate the planet's ecosystem from cutting down trees and cementing in rivers for new interstates, etc. etc.
Personally i think it's phreakin schweet.

That was actually my favorite episode of that series. It embodied everything the show should be: About some nerdy artifact no one else cares about but still surrounded by a conspiracy, the boys go to investigate and almost die, Jimmy Bond uses his strength to try save the gunmen and confesses his love for "those guys", and everyone ends up happy in the end.

You're speaking of Hydrogen powered technology ? If so it's not new thing, but it is still not cost effective enough to obsolete gasoline/natural gas power.

Juffo, if you watched the clip you'd see that it's water, not hydrogen. Hydrogen alone is volatile and beyond impractical, and it's also cheap. The reason the German zeppelins used hydrogen instead of the perfectly safe helium is because helium is expensive and the US wouldn't sell it to them. What the difference actually is between H20 and HHO completely eludes me (aside from the fact that it's obviously chemically bonded differently, which has of course a big effect), but that story is fucking amazing.

If it's "age old" then why doesn't my car run off water instead of gas? Maybe it's been in development for a while or this isn't the first guy to try it, but if this guy is trying to get a patent then clearly what he's doing can't be old...you know, because then someone else already would have an expired patent.

Wasn't this guy's invention bought out a long time ago?
Or was it just forcibily seized? I don't really remember.
(No, I am not a conspiracist, but I distinctly remember a story about a water-powered car that was bought/seized because it had the potential to diminsh oil profits.)

Pf. It'd be a steady decline in oil prices. Poor blokes like myself couldn't afford fancy new cars that ran on water. We'd be using those good 'ol petrol driven pieces of shit from the early nineties.
I fucking hate my cars.

I definately heard the very same, but I thought it turned out to be just random conspiracist bunk.
Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

If they couldn't get it working then, nor could The Joker, I doubt it'll happen now... =(
