Just like the title says. Right now I'm really diggin' Streets of Rage 2. Its enemy variety is acceptable, its moveset was strong for the time, and its music was not too bad.

Fuck Streets of Rage 2, Streets of Rage 3 is by far superior. What really kicks it out of SoR2 is the alternate story paths in 3. Plus, any game that lets me play as a homosexual gets massive points*.
* and this only refers to Bare Knuckle 3.
I've also been playing a hell of a lot out of "Justice League Heroes" which isn't a 2D beat-em-up, but as one of the newer genre games I dig it.

I like Streets of Rage 2 the best, but I could never beat it on Mania. The Ultimate Warrior-looking guy is so goddamn cheap...

Streets of Rage was the first game I ever played. I remember playing it with my uncle on his Sega Genesis. Good times.

Wow, there are a whole lot of beat-em-ups that I've never played apparently. I just played violent storm, which is probably for crazy people.
And what a transition, in Streets of Rage 1, the ultimate look-a-like would get his ass handed to him. Personally, I hate the boxer more due to the fact that if I get the shit beat out of me by a some steriod wrestler freak, its to be expected. A shoeless fat slob is embarrasing.

That warrior saga is great. Everything you could want from a sword and sorcery game.

try Pulirula (AC). It's like the Parodius of beat-em-ups.
Oh, and if you have a PS2, get God Hand if you don't already have it, like right now (I think you said you did)

God Hand was fantastic. I beat it on hard and with the "Kick me" challenge.
The only thing I cannot beat is the final arena challenge. Its a nightmare.
Whats Pulirula for?

Downloaded the pumaloofa game. Mildly amusing.

I got a good one to add, this one's an obscure MAME entry - Mug Smashers. It looks like shit at first, but play it for a bit. Give it a chance. You'll find it's oddly satisfying.

I'd love to try guardian brawlers, but I've got no saturn.
Mug smashers was terrible
Did you know there are no less than three sailor moon beat-em-ups? I just tried the third, and its fairly standard fare, but wtf?
And it chewed through my digital tokens too.
And I gotta ask, when I search brute force, all I get is the shitty xbox game. Is there another game named brute force?
