I love Cary Elwes, but God did overact in Saw. The sad part is, he actually can act. People know and love him for his cartoonish portrayals of Westley and Robin Hood, but watch The Riverman. He plays Ted Bundy and he does a damn good job.

I was unaware that God was in all those movies. Rolling Eyes

Elwes was also pretty decent in Kiss the Girls.

I haven't seen any of the Saw films, but did a giant bug impale her again?

According to a user-submitted plot synopsis on IMDB:

"Saw IV picks up right after Jigsaw's death in Saw III. Jeff must find his daughter before her oxygen supply runs out. He must uncover the tapes left by Jigsaw to unlock the clues to her location. Along the way he discovers unimaginable secrets about Jigsaw's past. To make matters worse, a character from the first film returns with a much different outlook on life. Saw IV in theaters October 26, 2007"

If this is true, and if the character is Dr. Gordon, I will fucking mark out.

Last I heard Cary Elwes was suing those producers... But remember when they said Donnie Wahlberg would not return for Saw III because of "creative differences"? I wonder if this is the same ruse... Nonetheless, I shouldn't get my hopes up. Sad

Edit: Yeah, that lawsuit is from 2005... so who knows? Rolling Eyes

So the last movie I saw in theaters was RE:Extinction and now it's "Saw IV". Why I'm not watching "good" movies is anyone's guess.

That said I liked IV. Like all the other films, this film plays things differently by being kind of a road movie and a procedural. Anything with serial killers and police/FBI always interests me and this handled the genre nicely. Different writers this time around, but I thought they fit in nicely.

I'd probably be pissed by one reveal, but I know there's two more films coming out. Kind of like "Lost" and knowing it all comes to an end in 2010... Granted the strike doesn't delay them that long... Rolling Eyes

Apparently the local theater I go to was having a Sawfest Thursday afternoon, showing all 3 movies with IV as a midnight premiere.

I had to catch the 12:30 a.m. showing Sunday morning.

Saw it finally tonight. It was enjoyable, but I gotta say that I'm irked that they didn't explain the motivation of the new Jigsaw, but I guess we have to wait till the next sequel like Tebor said, but that's annoying.

Spoilers:

Also, I don't understand the twist with the rules for Riggs' test. Jigsaw seemed to be trying to get him to go faster, in essence to beat the countdown...but he wasn't supposed to beat the countdown the whole time. Maybe I'm too tired to understand right now....

Also, I was really hoping that Cary Elwes would be the new jigsaw, they seemed to tease that by obviously showing a limp by the attorney. Maybe they're saving him till the last movie...

I saw IV last night. I enjoyed it. I agree, it is annoying they didnt explain the 'why' of it, but on a whole, I thought it was a good movie and decent handling of the franchise.

I never saw part III, as I was told by other sources it wasnt any good. Should I check that out or just let it be?

Saw III is pretty good. I liked it a lot better than Saw II. I haven't seen Saw IV yet, but apparently it runs concurrent to Saw III, so seeing Saw III will probably further enhance your appreciation of IV.
