George Lucas is coming to Los Angeles this week to meet with potential writers for his new Star Wars live-action television series. His goal, apparently, is to get a number of 'significant writers' to each work on an episode, 13 in all, for the first season of the show. He might even hire writers from other countries to work on the series, which would provide a refreshingly non-American slant to the series.

So basically George is out of ideas and now is relying on the obsess fans to do his work for him. Wait, is this going to be another reality show?

More like realizing the truth that Harrison Ford spoke "You can write this shit, but you sure can't say it."

Ford is the man. Laughing

BTW, is Starwars George's original creature or is it based off a series of novels, since there are a shit load of novels on starwars, i was wondering if any of them inspired the movie series.

I heard the show is gonna be based on minor characters in the series. Maybe it'll be like those books of short stories I love so much.

The Mos Eisley Cantina book was pretty sweet too. I was grounded a couple for a whole Summer a couple years ago so I read practically every Star Wars book at the library.

My school library had a fuckton of them (around 50). Sadly, I've read most of them. I'm on book 2 of the Bounty Hunter Wars. Once I finish Book 3, I'll have read every Star Wars book there.

I applaud you, yet pity you at the same time.

Um, seriously? I thought it was well documented that George created the Star Wars universe in the 70's and then he whored it out so that they could make novels and games about it. The only stipulation is that they all fall w/in the context of the Star Wars universe and they all follow the continuity set by the novels, graphic novels, games etc etc. So, if Zorba the Hutt dies 6 years after RotJ, and someone writes a story that takes place 8 years after RotJ, they cannot include Zorba as a living character.

I could be wrong though. It has been known to happen, me being wrong.

I was just checking, I thought George was the orginal creator but with so many people writing for the story now it gets confusing. And try NOT getting lost when reading about the Star Wars Universe on wikipedia:

I remember reading the Star Wars Encyclopedia in HS. It's a real fat book w/all the characters and events in alphabetical order. It didnt have a chronology of the events, but it was still a cool read. Then after I was done reading it, I realized I was a nerd lol.

I tried doing a search on amazon.com + google but I couldnt find the one I read. The one I read had a picture of a TIE bomber or Vader's TIE on the cover. I cant recall which of the two it was. Probably Vader's TIE.

Vader's Tie and I own that book. It is horribly outdated now and not worth tracking down.

I don't read the SW:Expanded universe anymore, but I am really, really, really tempted by this storyline of Jacen Solo turning to the dark side and killing Mara Jade. Now that's a cluster f*** that's ripe with dramatic potential.
