A looming strike in Hollywood has fast-tracked a number of projects, including the oft-mentioned Castlevania adaptation in the hands of Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Event Horizon). Anderson had previously been announced to both write the script in direct, but instead is only producing.
Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) is on tap to direct and Sci Fi Wire reports a script from Ian Jeffers (Death Sentence) should be completed in two to three weeks. The script needs to come in soon, as Anderson anticipates the movie shooting in just a few months. |
I dont know if this was discussed before or not, I tried looking for an old thread to revive but could not find one.
Anyhow, any thoughts on this?

I'll like it if it's good.
But if that German sack of movie-cancer Uwe Boll so much as tries to touch this movie, I will personally kill him with a stapler. Slowly.

I've only seen the first RE movie, and I hope to God Castlevania's nothing like it.

Keep in mind (1) Anderson also directed the best videogame movie ever, "Mortal Kombat", and (2) he's not directing Castlevania, just producing.
What concerns me, though, is the fact that they're rushing it.

I hope we don't end up with some shit where Dracula is a cyborg vampire who came from the future and Simon is actually his son who must use a whip crafted by a Japanese demon to fight evil cowboys in Iraq.

That would be a good concept for a compilation of short movies.

I'm actually afraid they'll try to do a Van Helsing type movie and include a lot of the boss monsters that show up in the games (grim reaper, frankenstein, et al.)
