Damn straight. "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama" would be an excellent choice. 'Bout time Zappa gets some credit...

Good song. Another song I'd recommend is Peaches en Regalia, as it has a few good solid guitar riffs/solos in it. Or maybe "Muffin Man" from the Bongo Fury album. Zappa isn't recognized enough for his guitar prowess. Hell, I don't feel he's recognized enough for anything he did.

RIP Hacker.

my dad made me watch these videos of frank arguing with two congressman about rock videos. god it was so funny when one of them went "i mean you have a video where these kids are supposedly 'hot for teacher'" I'll have to dig that out.

Ah, the great PMRC debate. In one corner, you had Dee Snider and Frank Zappa. In the other, you had Tipper Gore and a bunch of other ignorant old ladies who thought metal was devil music.
Funny thing is, if they thought "Hot For Teacher" is bad, we should be glad they didn't find out about Venom's "Teacher's Pet". Look up that one, and tell me Hot For Teacher doesn't look like a nursery rhyme after you read those lyrics.

It's a good thing that the PMRC didn't know about Venom. They found satanism in songs that didn't have it, imagine if they heard "In League With Satan".

Actually, I think Venom's "Possessed" was on the so-called 'Filthy Fifteen' list. So, it seems they knew about Venom. Why'd they spend their time crucifying Twisted Sister, while virtually ignoring Venom? Who knows. I guess Venom wasn't well known enough/making enough money to warrant being targeted, as opposed to TS, who were doing rather well at the time.
After some searching, I've found out, yeah, Venom's "Possessed" was on the list.

Odd, I'm not seeing any Slayer on the list. Hell Awaits would have been released by now, and Show No Mercy had been out for a few years, so I guess Slayer wasn't targeted for the same reasons Venom wasn't targeted.

Oh yeah, Teacher's Pet is sure bad. Whenever my parents are home and my friend and I can't watch porn we just read that song over and over.

The lyrics probably would make a decent porn substitute in cases like that, but I'd be thinking of Cronos acting out the lyrics as I read them, and that's a bonerkill if I've ever heard one.
Is it just me, or do all threads here at SydLexia seem to evolve into some type of porn discussion?

Always happy to help.
Now, in Guitar Hero news, it seems that Paranoid by Black Sabbath is being listed on Wikipedia as being on Rock Band and on Guitar Hero III. Odd. Also, Revolution is My Name has been removed from the GHIII Wiki. To that I say...damn...
It is Wikipedia, though...

That didn't have a particularly hard guitar part. They should have saved it for Fiddle Hero.

Get ready to shred, boys and girls!

Looks like the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Companion Pack is gonna feature a slew of unreleased songs exclusive to Xbox 360, making it a must have stocking stuffer for all yooz rockers...and possibly even you rollers.

The soundtrack CD will be available through Interscope Records on October 23 and features not only the key songs on the popular game (available October 2Cool, but also exclusive access to more gameplay via previously unreleased cuts "Carcinogen Crush" from AFI (from an EP due in December), "Tina" from Flyleaf, and a remix of Marilyn Manson's "Putting Holes In Happiness" by Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Other tunes on the soundtrack include AFI's "Miss Murder," Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing," Queens Of The Stone Age's "3's And 7's," Smashing Pumpkins' "Cherub Rock," Velvet Revolver's "Slither," Living color's "Cult Of Personality," Rise Against's "Prayer Of The Refugee," the Guitar Hero rendition of "Devil Went Down To Georgia" by Steve Ouimette and the game's intro by Slash, who is also a character in the game.

How do ya get these tunes? Well, included in each Companion Pack is a code users may score at www.interscope.com/guitarherocode to receive a special Xbox Live code. Input the Xbox Live code into your Xbox 360 console when logged into Xbox Live and you can download the expansion songs.

The expansion pack also includes new content and features, including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a host of exclusive unlockable content and visually stunning rock venues. Expanded online multiplayer game modes will also allow axe-wielders worldwide to compete head-to-head for true legendary rock status.

Activision announced the product tie-ins that will give Guitar Hero III the authenticity of today's corporate-sponsored music scene. Rock and/or roll!

Products appearing in the game include: Gibson, Guitar Center Audio-Technica, Crate, Ernie Ball, Krank, Line 6, Mackie and Zildjian. Alternative Press, Decibel, Guitar Player, Kerrang and Paste magazines will also show up. All that plus, for some reason, Axe and Pontiac.

"By forging exclusive relationships with key companies in the music and consumer packaged goods industries we are able to bring an even greater depth of realism to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," said Dave Anderson, sr. director of business development for Activision. "From venues like Pontiac Garage, to customized guitars from Axe, the game delivers the ultimate rock and roll experience."

Yeah, I got it Sunday at midnight. I only have the Final Battle left to beat.
Why do almost all the bonus songs suck monumentally? Seriously...

I've had it for a while, currently working my way through Medium Career mode (I've 5-starred "The Metal" and "My Name is Jonas" on Easy).

Found this tidbit out:

‘80s hitmakers The Romantics have filed a federal lawsuit against Guitar Hero producers Activision Inc., saying the game infringes on the band's rights by featuring a soundalike recording of its 1980 hit "What I Like About You."

The weird part though is that the band actually granted the game the soundalike rights for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the '80s, but feels the new version is too close to their original hit. They band claims the California-based company infringed on the group's rights to its own likeness by recording a soundalike that sound too much alike.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages plus an injunction that could take the hit game off store shelves.

I've been playing guitar for ten years and I find the quick time event hob knobery of guitar hero disgusting. If you could utilize the controller to play and compose your own riffs it might be cool, but in my opinion its just a lame re hash of dance dance revolution. Evil

Guitar Hero is better than DDR because:

1. You don't have to jump around like a fucking moron... unless you want to
2. It improves you finger dexterity, which is useful in real video games

Speaking of which, is there a third party guitar controller for the Wii version of GH3? I need to be able to kick my sister's ass at it.

Solo units (just the guitar without the game) will go on sale later this year. I just wish they'd sell blank faceplates. The ones they've got all suck IMO and I'd love to comission someone to design one for me.

They should have come out with the damn system. My brother was able to get a crappy Mad Catz pad for DDR the same day he got the Gamecube DDR.

I'm thinking about buying Guitar Hero 3 soon, but I'm not sure if I should get it for the Wii or PS2. Only downside for the Wii is that I won't be able to try the GH1 and GH2 songs on the system.

And I've also read a lot of reports about how the bundled guitar doesn't function right.

The Wii guitar works perfectly.

I went on Circuit City's site and it was about the PS2 version. Seems like the wireless guitar doesn't work sometimes. Not sure if it's people's stupidity in not turning on the power button or if it's something else.
