I've always been a fan of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, with TXR3 on PS2 being the best of the bunch.
Test Drive Unlimited was pretty fun for me also.
Outrun... Coast2Coast or something like that? The PS2 one. It's also good.
There's always Gran Turismo and the Ridge Racers, as well.

I remember playing Cruisin' USA and Cruisin' World at Chuck E. Cheese's. They had four, four acrade units set up so you could race simultaniously. And each race only cost a quarter. Those were good times.
The only racing games I ever liked were the F Zero series, Mario Kart series, Diddy Kong Racing, and Burnout. Remember the Sydlexia Rule of Raacing Games: the amount of fun derived from the game is inversely proportional to its realism.

GT5 demo is up on the JP PSN store for free, apparently. I'm gonna try and set up a JP account and grab it. If I can get it to work, I'll report back with impressions.

Whoa man. GT5 demo is super nice. As far as I can tell it's just one Suzuka track and maybe 10 cars (not sure, they unlock as you place well on the races, it seems), but it looks really clean. The cockpit mode is pretty insane looking, and I don't know if they're planning for weather effects, but if they are... man.
I'm gonna see if we can get GT5 Prologue in when it drops, so I can totally wank over it.
