Quote:
A cut price PlayStation 3 (PS3) with a smaller hard drive and no backwards compatibility with previous consoles goes on sale later this month.

The £299 PS3 has a 40-gigabyte hard disk and will be released in Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

There is no confirmation on the launch of the 40GB PS3 in North America and Japan, which have their own divergent models and price points.

Well if you already own a PS2, then a no BC PS3 is no big deal. But if you're like me, and you've never bothered with a Sony product, then no BC is a huge deal. There's like 1 actual PS3 game that's out right now that I'd like to play and at least 100 PS2 games.

Solution: Buy a used PS2.

I currently use a PS2. The games are just as good, gigantic selection, and a great deal of them are under 30$.
