calling requiem for a dream a "drug movie" reminds me why I don't like you.

also, a pal and I were stoned a few nights ago, and were playing resistance, and the fact that one palyer can use the sniper rifle to slwo down time while the other player did harm to enemies seemed like the funiest thing at teh time.

we spent like an hour slowing down time for each other so we could watch enemies get punched int eh face and fly through the air in slow motion.

Terrible. I kept fucking up and going around in loops for no reason. I didn't shoot much people even with the sawed-off shotgun.

I guess I'll point out the obvious. There's a difference between a movie about drugs and a movie that's good to watch while you're on drugs.

it's a movie about hopes and dreams, triumph and failure, and how weak human will is.

jared leto's character was originally only sellign the drugs to make a living so he coudl run away with his girlfriend and be happy, because he sees how he was raised and wants to be better. he wants to be the good son that his mother always thinks he is.

his girlfriend wants to be a clothing desinger or a model or whatever it was, because she views herself in contempt and hates her body.

his friend was black, that's bad enough, and his mom is so lonely that she's become obsessed with the idea of her "loving son", and being able to fit into that one wonderful dress to be on TV.

the drugs were just a device that was used to show how all of these people become sucked into a downward spiral, and how they fail.

half baked is a drug movie. fear and lothing in las vegas is a drug movie. requiem for a dream is so much more.

now tell me about how you went to college and they said so and so and such and such, and how smart you are.
