The Genesis only holds a couple of fond memories for me:
Phantasy Star
Shining Force
Rampart
Road Rash 1-3
Sonic 1-3
Toejam & Earl
That's about it.
The Road Rash series had some of the best music in videogame history, IMO.
Not to mention some of the hilarious sound effects. I love how in RR3 you could grab someone's weapon, and the character would go "YEA!"
Then when you cross the finish line, he goes "YEA! YEA! YEA! YEA!"
"Wolfman's got nards!"
You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!

I just watched his Fester's Quest review. It's the only review I've seen of his, and it left me thinking that he's as shitty as the games he reviews.
Not to mention that Fester's Quest wasn't that bad. It wasn't as good as Gremlins 2, Journey To Silus, or Blaster Master, but it was an adequately fun Sunsoft game.
Yeah. Basically the whole review was him making childish shit jokes and whining that he couldn't shoot right and didn't have enough health.

I wasn't a fan of Fester's Quest, but there were much worse games that I've played too. Like Super Pitfall. I hated that game so fucking much.
Oh and Toejam & Earl rocked.

I remember Toejam and Earl. My most vivid memory is putting little kids into jars.

The one AVGN gripe I could never understand was the way he bitched about Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
He thinks the day/night changes occur too often, and take too long. It's been a while since I played, but didn't that only happen like once ever 10 minutes or so?
Not to mention the game's overall ass-kickery.

Has someone done a review AVGN-style, while watching AVGN videos? Surely someone has had this idea before.

Super Pitfall. Man, there was a fifty percent chance at the mine cart lvl that the game would freeze up on me, so getting the very unrewarding ending was doubly sucky.
The game I hate from that system would be Kid Chameleon. Dear god that game was impossible, and thanks to the power of the internet I know that had I managed to get past the final stage "The Last Marathon" the reward would have been dissapointing indeed.

Yeah, RR did kick some ass. I remember Skitchin' was badass too. Anyone remember it? basically same idea as RR but you were skating/rollerblading.

That's my favorite AVGN review because he basically lists all the complaints I had about that game. Someone bought it for me randomly as a kid, and I had never played any Castlevania before. The game was annoying as hell. You never knew what to do, you lost items too easily, making you practically start over all the time, and the changing from day to night and vice versa was indeed extremely annoying.
I hate Simon's Quest, and that's why I've never played any other Castlevania game.

I found the comparison of music to be interesting. Between Doom on the SNES and Sega 32X, The SNES version rocks.

I have watched a lot of game reviews and yes someone has inserted AVGN into their reveiws and . . . wait for it . . . IMITATED HIM!
He watches AVGN towards the end of the second part of "Games that Suck: Apocalypse". be warned he bashes Robocop and i know that is on the NES 100 list.
Part 1
part 2
And here is his AVGN imitation:
I like Armake21 reviews more then AVGN because their less flash and his anger seem more legit.

I usually like AVGN, but I could understand why someone wouldn't. The cussing gets annoying, and his rendition of the Adam's Family theme song in his latest review sounds like something he came up with in elementary school.
One reviewer I really like is a guy named Spoony. He's older than most reviewers, so his jokes are a bit more nuanced. For instance, his name is derived from some imfamous dialogue in Final Fantasy II in which an NPC calls one of your characters "a most spoony bard." He also riffs on movies and incorperates old movie references into his video game reviews. His Final Fantasy VIII review is halarious!
You can also find him on Youtube under the name Spoonyone.

I've been watching Spoony for the past couple of days, and his reviews are hilarious. But by far, my favorite game reviewer is Kool Dudester.

Horns up to the Spoony. My fav vids he did has to be the Final Fantasy 8 series he's been doing and i hope he continues. I think he puts his all into those reviews. Although I like what he did with the Klingon Lesson CD and the Terror TRAX Reviews. Those were priceless.

Murdar needs to do more reviews where he starts talking about a crappy game, then gets annoyed and starts talking about a game people actually like.

The thing I hate most about these videos is that all these people have terrible fucking voices. If you're going to try and establish yourself as a video game critic on YouTube, make sure you have a good voice. AVGN, Fatman, no one wants to hear your fucking high pitched whiny little bitch voice droning on and on about how your bad your sorry ass sucks at Parodius. If you want to be an angry person, you need a fucking angry voice. Lewis Black, Dave Attell, Denis Leary, these are people who have the type of angry, manly voice you need to do angry material. Little bitches like AVGN and Fatman don't have that sort of voice. They sound like Andy Dick. Hell, they sound like my little sister throwing a fit when I grab the remote from her and change the channel off of "Hannah Montana". To guys with little whiny bitch voices who think they're funny enough to do video reviews, I have suggestion: SMOKE. A few years of some nice high tar cigarettes will give you the sort of nasty raspy voice you need for the sort of material you do.
And to all the people out there doing AVGN-style reviews, why don't you take another cue from AVGN, get the fuck off of YouTube and get a real site. You think you're hot shit cuz you're on a UGC site? You're not. You're just some bandwagon douchebag with 5th grade level editing skills.
