"I totally drew a chibi Sesshomaru playing DDR against Inuyasha, and Inuyasha lost because he sucks." <~ some girlpants-wearing dyed-black mistake, attempting to mack on some girls in here.
Their reply?
"Ooh, haha, cool!"
I weep for the future.

I would have puked on them!
Today at work the giant 400lb 23 year old high school drop out female I work with was telling some other lady about how goth she is because she likes slipknot and shops at hot topic or something.

No, dyed black as in, black hair, black shirt, black pants, black eyeliner, black boots, etc. That kind of "I'm gonna be shocking by wearing all black because when the darkness is your only solace, you must bring it with you whilst venturing into the light" shtick that so many kids seem to think is a new idea.

A Venom shirt is fine for me, thanks.
But really man, that shit is everywhere these days. In my school, on the streets, you just can't get away from the shitty culture. It's especially bad on DeviantArt because I'm actually making art. I don't take a picture of myself every hour and put it on there, I don't fucking scribble out a picture of my cat on Ms Paint in 3 minutes. Fuck it man.

You should see this kid at my school. Emo as fuck. All black/red/pink. The other day I saw him wearing red eyeliner, and I'm thinking "so you want to look like you have tuberculosis? Is that what you're going for?".

DDR pimps are so cool. It's one thing to be good at a game, but to try to brag and think you're the bees knees because of it is so fucking lame.

Most of the DDR heroes around here were bar rapers.

As much as I want to rip on the current generation of youth, all they would have to do it point back at the fads of my genearation as a youth.
I mean we think that emo, white rapper/gangster wannabes, and such are bad?
What about some of these wonderful fashions and ideas from our youth? (Well, Syd's, bjork's, and my youth anyway.)
Remember skaters in the 80s?
Remember the really bad haircuts as well? Shaving half of your head, and then having the other half long and hang over your face?
Or the obsession with spandex and legwarmers?
Worse, was the fad of the Black Spandex shorts with the HOt Pink stripe that everyone wore, guys and girls.
Acid wash anyone?
How about the awesome fashion that the biggest music stars wore?
Muscle pants?
Grunge?
I am guilty of wearing way too much flannel and ripped jeans in my high school days. I also wore a dress and jeans a couple times.
Punk/Goth of the 90s?
(Though, she is is pretty hot.)
I don't think we have much to big about. Same shit, different generation.

I remember when EVERYTHING was neon. I had a fall jacket that was neon green/yellow/purple. I wonder how my retinas survived.

Shit, that was a pickup line??? Fuck we used to make so much fun of the emo kids at school lol. And hey, I was born in 89, but my mom was into grunge, so i wore more than my fair share of flannel...now it's all about the jeans, band shirts and long hair baby!
Fuck...it can't be a pickup line if it includes the words DDR, or Inuyasha, or whatever that other shit is
PS. At least you don't work with your mom who likes to constantly bring up tales of when you were brest-fed...fuck

bjork storytime:
I once called my mom and asked if she would come watch the store for a few minutes, as I was working alone and needed to poop really badly. She was in the area and agreed to come by. I didn't want to close the gate and just go, because we were having a really bad business day and I didn't want to miss any sales. So she comes in and I told her to basically make sure no one stole anything, and then I took care of the dump.
I come back out, and she's got this death stare locked on this one guy I call "Cheeky Angel Fuck", because when Cheeky Angel's manga was going to come out on year, he called something like 19 days in a row, asking if we had it in yet. So I'm like, "what's up, did he say something to you?" She goes, "Listen to his laugh." I was like, "Oh, I know, he totally sounds like Woody Woodpecker on drugs or something" and right as I said that, you hear this HE-HE-HE-HEHE shit from over where he was. And she was like, "I think I fucking hate that guy." I just laughed and agreed.
I miss my mom.

I'm gonna agree with knyte on the matter. Teenagers are kind of enthused about stupid stuff because they are teenagers. Its like being pissed off at an infant for crapping on itself.

As I've already expressed my dislike of popped collars...leg warmers are apparently back in fashion as well. Imagine that, a mixture of the 80's and 90's and 00's all rolled into one.

I was in Theater Arts the other day, and everyone was chatting before the bell rang. You know, like always. Suddenly, this goth girl in the back screams "GOD, will all of you just SHUT UP! People sound so much more smarter (sic) when they aren't TALKING!!!" And I sat there and thought "What the fuck is this goth bitch's problem?" for 2 seconds before going back to my conversation. Seriously, what the fuck was that?

I'm a child of the grunge era myself, but there's a difference between dressing like a moron, and purposely trying to make yourself look like a female. THAT'S my problem with the current trends compared to the old ones.
also, inuyasha > sesshomaru, cloud > sepiroth, snake > raiden and richter belmont > alucard. looking femmenine does not make you a cool character.

Heres how I see it
The 80s had pretty cool music most of the time but looked kinda gay
The 90s had pretty cool music some of the time but looked kinda gay sometimes
the 00s have a bare minimum of cool music and sometimes maybe sorta look cool.
