Jailbait, by Motorhead

Hey baby you're a sweet young thing,
Still tied to Mommy's apron strings,
I don't even dare to ask your age,
It's enough to know you're here backstage,
You're Jailbait, and I just can't wait,
Jailbait baby come on

One look baby, all I need,
My decision made at lightning speed,
I don't even want to know your name,
It's enough to know you feel the same,
You're Jailbait, and I just can't wait,
Jailbait baby come on

Hey babe you know you look so fine,
Send shivers up and down my spine,
I don't care about our different ages,
I'm an open book with well thumbed pages,
You're Jailbait, and I just can't wait,
Jailbait baby come on

Ah, Lemmy is God. And hey, RobotGumshoe already mentioned jailbait, and this thread's derailed enough as it is, so what the hell. I'm glad my suspicions of hoaxery were correct. I still think SVU should roll with this and make an episode about it.
And welcome new guy, by the way.

Sarah calls herself a Goth but we insisted she not dress in black for this photo. She reads and writes a lot of depressing poetry and it takes a lot to get her nose out of a book. She says she’s an Old Soul in a new young body and she’s already been married lots of times and she might die again tomorrow so why wait?

Let's play a little game of Who wants to marry an emo-kid?

Furthermore, the wait time for the proposal be to accepted/rejected is longer than shipping time on eBay!

Now, I don't know about anyone else, but this testimonial sold me:

Courtney P.
Age: 13,
Location: South

Courtney’s grandmother married at 13, her mother married at 13, and Courtney has decided she wants to keep the tradition going. She would prefer to stay close to her large extended southern family and loves farm or at least rural life. She got an A in Home Ec. and has read up on what else would be expected of her as a wife and is looking forward to it.

After doing some research she would only be able to get married in the following states, and only with a court's permission:

Colorado: If you are 16 or 17, you will need consent of both parents (or parent having legal custody), or guardian, or seek judicial approval. If you are under 16, a Judicial Court Order along with parental consent is necessary.

Kentucky: If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have the consent of your parents or legal guardian. Custody papers are required if your parents are divorced. The form that you need to have completed is the Consent to Marriage Form (84-FCC-501). It has to be witnessed by two witnesses who are at least 18 years old, signed by your parent or legal guardian, and sworn by the deputy clerk. If you are a pregnant minor you may apply to a district court judge for permission to marry without parental consent. If you are under 16, you must get approval to marry from the District Court. Minors cannot get married in Kentucky if parents or guardians are not residents of Kentucky.

Michigan: If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can get married with written parental consent. If you are 15 or younger, you will need both parental consent and the approval of the probate court.

Missouri: If you are under 18 years old, you must have parental consent. Anyone under the age of 15 must have the approval of a county judge to receive a marriage license.

Most states are a minimum of 16 years old. A couple are 17. And, a few are minimum 14. The ones listed above are the only ones she could get legally married in, but she and her parents would have to be legal residents of one of those states. (Which excludes all but Kentucky, as she is listed as being from the South.) Also, do you think a Judge would allow a marriage on the grounds of, "I bought her from her parents for $49,995, so I feel I am legally entitled to marry her."?

I appreciate any reference to Motorhead. Besides, the thread derailment is interesting.

Which would you prefer ottobot? Like 7-8 members of the forums just saying hi, or a enthused conversation about depraved people who sell thier daughters on the internet how god intended?

We should all work together to set up a fake "daughter" to see if we can get it listed on the site. You have to pay %10 of your selling price to the company to put it. So, we should all paypal Syd like $10, and then post up a mock daughter for a sale price of $1000.00. And, just make her sound completely messed up in the head, to explain the bargin price. Something like: (For this example I shall the mock Daughter, "Mary.")

"Mary is a very quiet and shy girl. She thinks alot, but never shares her thoughts with anyone. You can always tell when she is in deep thought becasue she starts to twitch. She is also very artistic, and like to paint abstract portraits in various shades of red. She is easy to care for, as long as she takes her meds on time, as well as being kept away from sharp instruments such as knives and scissors. We think she would make a great wife for an artsy type person."

This whole thing raises an interesting question, and one that I feel very uncomfortable addressing. The Newsweek article points out that marriage laws often conflict with statuatory rape laws. The question is, how do we fix the incongruence? The statuatory rape laws are newer, and the ages set in them are universally higher than the marriage laws. But should we go with those? There's been several high profile cases where teachers had sex with their teenage students. You see a show like To Catch A Predator that's reeling in hundreds of fairly creepy guys all looking to court 15 and 16 year olds, and you have to wonder what's going on. Are these people sick, or at they at the forefront of inevitable change in American social values? TV is gettier raunchier, more violent, and sexier than it ever was before. Britney Spears was being pimped out to the public via MTV when she was barely 17. There are entire clothing lines for teenagers designed to help them look just like 20 year olds. And when you look at other countries, such as Canada, Britain, and Germany, they consider 16 or 17 to be a reasonable age for sexual congress as opposed to 18. I'm not saying lower ages are appropriate, but it's something to consider.

All of being said, I am fairly certain we'll see marriage ages raised instead statuatory rape laws lowered. Why? Because no legislator is going to come out say, "Yeah, so I've been thinking... we should be allowed to have sex with 16 year olds and not go to jail. Who's with me!?"

Being as how my sister is 14, I personally am against the lowering of ages anyway. I do NOT want her hanging out with creepy 30 year olds. Especially that weirdo from MCR.

I tracked down RegalSin, and this is what he had to say on the matter:

Quote:
I think, that it should be legal, for the formed men to be allowed to have sexual attitudes with women of age 14 or the senior. They are old enough to menstrate and consequently their bodies are ready to be linked with. If more people thought this way, that is world peace, and any nuclear weapon.
