That reminds me of when I used to see FUBU everywhere, and when I asked what it meant, someone said "it stands for Farmers Used to Beat Us."
I thought that was pretty cool, like they used to get beaten and now they have a clothing label or whatever... then I found out that it stood for something totally different...

it isn't really for us by us, thats just the "Politically correct commercial slogan" as to not offend whitey. Fubu stands for For Us, Black United.

I bet they were thinking to name it the i-Beat, so it could be close to iPod, but with beat as a reference to the bitchin' music you could play. And then Blaxx, in a not-very-clever-yet-functional reference to the color.
...But if someone had said "Okay, now say the thing's title to me out loud, I'd like to hear how it sounds", things would've been much different.
