Reuters wrote:
Steven Seagal, whose action movies once were major box-office attractions, believes false allegations by FBI agents ruined his career, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.

The comments in the Times are the first Seagal has made publicly about an investigation begun some five years ago by the FBI into accusations he intimidated a reporter and had ties to organized crime.

The Times said Seagal is demanding an apology from the FBI. A spokesman for the actor was not immediately available on Friday.

"False FBI accusations fueled thousands of articles saying that I terrorize journalists and associate with the Mafia," Seagal told the newspaper. "These kinds of inflammatory allegations scare studio heads and independent producers -- and kill careers."

Seagal, 56, was once a major star of action movies such as 1992's "Under Siege," which earned $156 million at worldwide box offices, but now he makes straight-to-DVD releases such as "Flight of Fury and "Attack Force."

The FBI investigation stemmed from Seagal's ties to former private detective Anthony Pellicano, who once was employed by many Hollywood stars, directors and producers, but is now in federal prison awaiting trial on wire-tapping and other charges.

The Pellicano investigation dates to 2002 when a free-lance reporter for the Los Angeles Times found a dead fish, a red rose and a note saying "Stop!" on her car. At the time, the reporter was researching Seagal and a former business partner.

Seagal told the Times that he and Pellicano had not been on speaking terms since the 1990s and the Times' story said his lawyers told FBI agents that by 2002, Seagal and Pellicano had become rivals in a bitter legal dispute.

The actor said in October 2004, an FBI official told him that federal agents knew he had nothing to do with the Pellicano investigation. Still, Seagal claims they have not publicly exonerated him.

An FBI spokeswoman declined to comment "because of the ongoing nature of the investigation" and referred calls to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney was not immediately available to comment.

So his career is in the shitter and he's looking for a scapegoat? That sure screams action hero to me.

His career was dead before that incident. I don't even think that investigation is well known. This is the first I've heard of the whole thing.

He could be telling the truth.

Exit Wounds, his second to last studio film, cost $33 million to make and grossed $51 million in US theaters. When you fact in the international gross and DVD sales, the movie did pretty good.

Half Past Dead, Seagal's last studio film, cost $13 million to make and grossed $15 million in US theaters, which isn't great. But with international ticket sales and video sales, the movie was still highly profitable.

Then suddenly all his films are direct to video.

So it's possible that the FBI really did fuck him over. I know his license to carry a concealed weapon was not renewed directly because of the FBI investigation.

At the same time, it's possible Warner Brothers was just unhappy with the box office performance of his films. His fall from grace happened to coincide with a time when Stallone and Van Damme also found themselves doing DTV work and Schwarzenegger's movies were pulling in only a fraction of what they had been between '84 and '94.

He's a chump who can't act his way out of a paper bag. There's only so far that will go before everyone realizes he's a loser.

A movie that only makes $2million of profit? NOT A SUCCESSFUL MOVIE.

Not when studios can pump out Saw after Saw for practically nothing and make $100million.

And Seagal has no star power anymore.

Hmmm... Well I wouldn't say the FBI is behind his career taking a nose dive, I would blame his annoyingly raspy voice and his beer gut that seems to get bigger w/every movie he makes.

Oh yeah, and making movies w/bad rappers never helps

Yeah, that's right Steven, it's the bad old government that ruined your career. Not the fact that you're pretty much a joke at this point, not your bad acting, not the paunch, not the lies about being trained by karate masters or the lies about having worked undercover for the Japanese police, nope, it's the FBI.

Also, he's on his third wife and cheated on both of the first two.

The one thing that could have saved his career was his appearance in The Onion Movie, in which he played Cock Puncher. Unfortunately, the studio that produced The Onion Movie buried it because it was too awesome for human eyes.

One of his six children, Annaliza, was born in 1987. I was hoping to find her on MySpace and harass her, but apparently she's one of six people born between 1980 and 1995 that doesn't have a fucking MySpace. See, if his daughter had a MySpace, that could be the plot for his next movie. I can see the trailer now...

They used MySpace to seduce his daughter.
They used MySpace to setup a meeting with her.
They used MySpace to send the ransom note.

Now Steven Seagal is... OUT FOR MYSPACE JUSTICE!

Steve Seagal: Are you Tom?
Tom The MySpace Guy: Holy shit, you're Steven Seagal!
Steve Seagal: I said, are you Tom?
Tom The MySpace Guy: Yeah! Hi Mr. Seagal, it's honor to...
(Seagal breaks Tom's hand)
Steve Seagal: Where's my daughter?
Tom The MySpace Guy: AHHHH, MY FUCKING HAND!
Steve Seagal: Where's my daughter, scumbag?
Tom The MySpace Guy: WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Steve Seagal: Someone kidnapped my daughter. They used MySpace to do it. I heard you were the guy to see about MySpace. Now where is she?
Tom The MySpace Guy: I DON'T KNOW!!!! I NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE!
Steve Seagal: Assist this, dirtbag.
(Seagal breaks Tom's other hand)
Tom The MySpace Guy: AHHHH! MY OTHER HAND!
Steve Seagal: One last chance, creep. Where's my daughter?
Tom The MySpace Guy: Please... stop...
Steve Seagal: Oh, I'll stop all right... stop you neck!
(Seagal breaks Tom's neck, leaving him twitching on the ground, he starts to walk away, then walks back.)

Steve Seagal: Oh yeah, don't forget to save the environment, motherfucker.

OUT FOR MYSPACE JUSTICE!

Coming Summer 2008.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Syd, that was amazing. And it also makes you wonder when someone's going to use that plot for real... myspace or Facebook used to lure children... I can't wait to see that movie bomb.

I'll give you that Segal's massive weight gain was what killed his career.

He and Van Damme need to make that MySpace movie with Rob Schneider FAST!
