I saw this web article with someone's top five least favorite game protagonists... And immediately disregarded it.

So, what game heroes do you hate/despise/can't stand?

Dave is a decent enough choice. Tidus is too, even if the reasoning is awful. The rest is BS.

What's his address? I wanna lay some hurt on.

I can't say much for Maniac Mansion, as I haven't played it much yet.
I don't like the Tomb Raider games, but his explanation was still meager (as are... ALL of them)
I didn't care a lot for FFX, though I would like to play through all of it someday. The comment about Cloud though is bullshit. How was he annoying? VII had, I felt, one of the strongest storylines, especially compared to most of its predecessors.
Raiden? Eh, I've imitated his nude-runningness, so I can't really say. I thought his presence was a neat story twist.

Link? LINK? Constantly kidnapped or harassed by the same villian? How about Bowser and Peach? How about Mega Man and Wily? How about the Belmonts and Dracula? Or almost every other game where the same baddies/villians torment your being by via harassment, torture, kidnapping, murder, etc. Fuck this guy. Fuck him in the mouth and out through his medulla oblongata .

Yeah, that person who wrote it is a total douche-head. If its a dude and his name is Janelle, then he's a loser too. Nothing against homosexuality, but he's a loser still.

Anyhow, Cloud was total emo. That's really my only, and main gripe about him. I mean, his most famous quote is: "..."

I never cared for Lara. Cheap Indiana Jones ripoff created for a new demographic by making it a 'sexy' individual.

Dont care for Dave either way, for or against. Cant say I had much love for Raiden. But never cared for MGS2. The story was just too much. Kind of like Smokin' Aces and its ending.

To be fair, Janelle's his last name. His first name's the epitome of masculine heterosexuality: Robert. Mr. Green

The reasons listed in the full article seemed to mostly attack characters he thought "weren't honest" (Lara being a closeted sociopath unlike GTA characters, Raiden wearing a wig). Once you see that he doesn't like "phoney" people it takes away from his argument somewhat.

If I was the make a list like that, I would have to put Superman on it.

He may have all kinds of awesome Super Powers in comics, movies, and on television. But, apparently the only Super Power he has in the world of videogames, is the uncanny ability to make the games that he is in suck.

I don't see much wrong with the list. he was obviously just having fun with it, and it IS his opinion.

Agreed. I'd just hope that if he were to have an opinion on something like this, he could back it up just a little more than "He isn't Snake".

well the guy gets a bit more in depth than that, and it honestly makes sense. I just don't feel he should be called a punk because of it.

First of all, he isn't Snake, even though Metal Gear Solid 2 did everything they could to make you think you'd be playing as Snake. Then, there's the fact that he talks like a big-shot combat veteran, even though this is his first live mission.

He does cartwheels instead of a defensive roll and...what is up with the wig? At least Snake's mullet is honest.

Oh, and he's defenseless once he gets to the standard "hero gets captured" part of MGS2 since he needs to use one hand to hide his junk. At least Snake has the good sense to leave his pants on when being tortured.

Finally, as a character, he's almost as much of a wuss as Otocon!

Even the game designers realized how obnoxious Raiden was, since Major Raikov in Metal Gear Solid 3 seemed to have been created for the sole purpose of making fun of the guy.

(Plus, there's even more Raiden abuse in the bonus movies in Metal Gear 3 Subsistence)

BTW, I didn't realize that people wouldn't notice that I abridged his reasons for each character to limit the space it would take up in this thread.

The old pre-movie Lara croft is one of my favorites. I have multiple pics on my wall, even though now she looks a little wierd since she was made with like 6 polygons. Legend TR I like too, that really was a fun game. She is a murderer though.

Gordon Freeman - It stills bugs me if think about it to hard. So, he's a brilliant scientist who was a top MIT grad, and is working at a secret lab. No problem. An expirement goes wrong, and he is one of the few initial survivors. Okay, I could see it. When durring all his advanced quantum theory classes and trig tests did he have time to buildup a decathelete's strength and endurance, as well as years of weapons training on everything from a handgun, to high end SSM launchers? If the main goal of the game was to solve puzzles, and the rest of the time you run away from monsters due to your limited fighting ability, I would buy it. But, most of the game is one man taking on an army of mercs plus an alien invasion almost single-handedly. Gordon should have been a security guard, with a special forces background, or some other logic history to justify the fact that he is a better warrior then John Rambo.

I always assumed that he had to get the weapons training since he was working for the military, and the HEV suit he wore gave him super-strength. It bothers me more that he never asks anyone "What the FUCK is going on here?!!"

Yeah, I don't think Cloud was al emoey till Advent Children. All I saw him do in that was whine and jump 50 feet in the air.

I really enjoyed that movie. how does he whine when he barely talks? if anything I think he was more introverted than emotional.
