I like the concept of MMORPGs, I'm just far too lazy to actually play one.

RTS games rule.
I love the Warcraft series, AoE, and C&C: Red Alert.

Red Alert is so badass. I mean, what other RTS has allowed you to basically turn it into a one-soldier minigame? Tanya was just too cool. I loved running around blasting soldiers and dogs, and c4'ing buildings to hell.

I'm into RTS games.
I also play WoW. I have a level 12 Orc Warrior. I run off of my friends account. It's an OK game, but I'm not paying fucking $12 a month for it.

Regarding WoW specifically: Until I'm back in the black, my only exposure to it is playing the CCG. Btw, if I grab a loot card I'd be willing to part with it for the right price. You can get stuff like a turtle mount, an imp skull you shake and use like a Magic 8 Ball, or a fishing chair with matching umbrella, among other things. I'll probably play as a Blood Elf or an Undead.
Regarding RTSs: I've never been good with them, the same goes for non-Metroid FPSs. However, I love stuff like TBSs (Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, etc.)

Get the GBA ROM of it. It's the same game, just way better looking.
Also, I'm kind of starting to get bored with WoW.

Starcraft.
I love RTS games of all shapes and sizes. Starcraft, Age of Empires 3, Age of Mythology (no matter how much anybody hates it), C&C (any of them really).
also some unconventional RTS games like nexus (which most people would call a 'space sim' i suppose)

Starcraft let you do it with custom scenarios and triggers, yeah. But it was lame autocombat. In Red Alert you had to, you know, actually click on the units individually with Tanya instead of just hitting "A" and sending them in brainlessly. I did make some awesome missions on Starcraft where you got one guy though.

I think making units semi-autonymous in Starcraft was a great feature. Telling a group of marines to "Attack to this point" makes a lot more sense to me then "Go to this point, and if you get mauled by zerglings along the way, just keep walking."

Yeah, of course. That makes perfect sense from an RTS perspective, and Red Alert did that as well. Just not for Tanyas. For Tanya, you had to individually click on each soldier, and she'd light their asses up with double colt 1911's, while shouting duke nukem quotes and laughing maniacally.
What I meant originally was due to that gameplay element, there was like a mini-game that was more action oriented, which was a nice break away from the standard RTS auto attack stuff.
Also the actress who played Tanya was pretty hot:
I'd put a paper bag on her head and fuck her up the ass, if you get what I mean

age of mythology?
think of a graphically unpolished Age of empires 3.
the game play itself is fun as hell, a little slower paced then the rest of the series but the wide variance of units, and mass destruction with god powers and such were great features. plus all 3 Races are totally different from eachother, and each have 3 sub-gods that offer different economic and military bonuses that really make gameplay interesting. I love it.

I loved all of the Command & Conquer games. I would have to say that Red Alert 2 is still my all-time favorite out of the series.
Battle For Middle Earth 2 is a great RTS. Especially if you mod the main .ini file so you don't have a unit cap. It's great to see hundreds of Dwarves spreading their little dwarven fury across a map. Good times.
As for TBS. The original X-com ruled. Chaos Overlords was pretty good. Nowadays, Civ 4 is about the best of the bunch.
