Last night (the 20th) I went to see my very first rock concert, Rush: Snakes and Arrows. Not only was it the real band (these guys have been around for about 30 years or so), it also had some of the best music I have EVER listened to.

Here's the story: one of my neighbors gave my mother two tickets to the Rush concert. My mother, who was a biiiig Rush fan back when she was young, was literally dumbfounded when she heard the name of the band. Since my two older brothers weren't home, my mother took me with her to see the concert. Not only did we get VIP seats, we were also in the DEAD CENTER of the theatre (great view!). The concert lasted somewhere around 4 hours, and it was pure awesome.

Neil Peart's drum solo was the COOLEST. SOLO. EVER. Sheer awesome.

Has anyone else here ever been to a concert that WASN'T a cover band?

Snakes and Arrows is the best album they put out in almost 15 years. It's cool to see classic bands going through a renaissance or sorts

Korn
Disturbed
Gary Hoey
Nirvana (Back when Chad Channing was still the drummer. Pre-Nevermind)
Weird Al (3 Times)
Everclear (4 Times. They are from Portland, so I saw them 3 times when they were still just a small time local band. Pre-World of Noise and Sparkle And Fade)
Radiohead
Sex Pistols
Goldfinger
Gravity Kills
Pond
and over 100+ local/small time bands.
As well as played with a few.

I saw rush a few years back on their 30th anniversary tour in toronto (the last show of the north american tour). My dad got the tickets from a guy he was doing a job with, 2nd row, dead center. I could have spit on geddy lee (and at some points wanted to). they were insanely tight and I dig a bit of rush so it was a damn good show. not the best band i've ever seen by far though (see hella)

I am a worthless piece of crap.

You are one lucky dude, Syd. I'd have loved to see Pantera at any time, even if Phil would be drunk/stoned out of his mind. One concert I would absolutely loved to have seen was when Pantera and White Zombie would tour together. I think I'd cut my leg off for a chance to see that.
I've only been to two musical concerts, Black Label Society in November, and Les Claypool (from Primus) on Tuesday. Both were a lot of fun. Rush is coming to San Antonio in August, but I probably won't be going because tickets are expensive, plus the cost of gas money and a hotel room.
I was THIS close to seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers (my friend had an extra ticket), but my mom said "No concerts on school nights, especially if they're in San Antonio". GRAGH!!!! I'm also pissed that I skipped out on the chance to see Lamb of God/Machine Head/Trivium/Gojira back in February due to be buying my bass, and thus having no concert money. I'm no Trivium fan, but I can't believe I missed Machine Head and Lamb of God.
Living near Austin, you'd think I go to a lot of shows. You'd think incorrectly. Most of the good metal bands go to Dallas/SA/Houston, skipping us entirely. Sonofagun.
My brother goes to concerts about as often as I do, he's seeing Wofmother tonight at Stubb's. I don't care for them in the least, so I'll be at home.

Shit, I've seen BLS too. Somehow I forgot.

They were at a few of the Ozzfests. One year, 30 seconds into their first song, Zakk stopped the song and screamed "Limp Bizkit sucks fucking dick!"

After it was met with cheers, he resumed the song.

I was waiting for him to yell something like that when I saw BLS too, but he never did. Maybe because Limp Bizkit has dropped into obscurity, Zakk doesn't want to waste his time...who knows. Go to YouTube, type in "Black Label Society Bleed For Me", and at the end of the song, Zakk rants about LB's suckage factor. It's funny.
Also, funny story, my brother (he was 14 and 5'0") was crowdsurfing, and he actually made it over the barrier. He said hello to Nick Catanese (he nodded back), and, when Zakk Wylde launched a massive loogie up in the air, some landed on my brother. Good story for him.
