I can't imagine Jason Lee as David Seville.
I've heard Lee yell and he just can't yell "ALVIIIIIIN!" the way the guy in the cartoon did.
They should have gotten David Arquette.
And yeah, the Chipmunks look fucking awful. If Jason Lee's head is any indication, they're going to be chipmunk-sized and not kid-sized.

1. Because movies about animated animals are "hip" now.

Jason Lee is Underdog. And I'll see this cause I <3 Lee. Whatever I think is irrelevant.
But I did like that animated movie they did with the diamonds in the dolls. That film used to be on Nick all the time at 3 in the morning for awhile.

Apparently the movie is being produced by Ross Bagdasarian Jr., the son of Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian. Junior was responsible for the 1980s cartoon series and he voiced all four of the main characters on it. He recently regained control of the franchise, having sold it to Universal in 1996.
So dumb as it is, it's being done under the direct supervision of the characters' rightful heir.

Janice Karman actually did the voice of Theodore and the chipettes or whatever they were called. Not that it matters this movie is still gonna be a nightmare IMO.

I saw a big billboard thingy for it when I came out of the theater after watching the new Die Hard flick (which rocked the house). I felt violent as soon as I saw it. I could see Alvin going that route, but Theodore and Simon? Come on! Simon is too nerdy to be gangsta and Theodore is too much of a baby. It's retarded. It's shit-faced. Under the circumstances of the direction, it's like Paul McCartney re-releasing the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album and replaced all the original songs with Jimmy Eat World covers.
It's makes me want to experiment with stigmata.

And the recent godawful "Time Machine" movie was directed by H.G. Wells's grandson. So we'll see.
