I remember there was even a Power Rangers Sega CD game that was of similar vein.

OH!!! Have you ever stumbled across the "movie" Game Over? It's a bunch of Digital Pictures FMV footage strung together with a completely nonsense plot and released direct-to-DVD. It's terrible. More info on IMDb:

As far as games go, the official list of Digital Pictures games (all of which I'd be playing) are as follows:
Double Switch, Night Trap, Corpse Killer, Prize Fighter, Sewer Shark, Supreme Warrior, Slam City with Scottie Pippen, Ground Zero Texas, Quarterback Attack, Four MAKE MY VIDEO titles (INXS, Kriss Kross, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and C&C Music Factory).
I have also now learned that there were other non-sega cd games put out in the final days of the company, including Maximum Surge (with Yasmine Bleeth and Walter Koenig), and two PC-only games that I now vaguely recall as being somehow "educational" -- Kids On Site and What's My Story? . . |
But see, there's also a game for the Sega CD called Citizen X, which wasn't officially released. It's not entirely FMV, as they tried to make it into a platform game, but it does have many FMV scenes, where the good guys and bad guys communicate with you over your wrist-radio-TV-thing. It is a horrible game, but the usual cheesy FMV scenes are often hilarious.
The best scene in the game is where you get taunted by a mime who starts licking an invisible dick.

Once again, an extremely compelling read. You've got some serious writing talent.
You've also got one damn scary little tree.

Okay, here's the "tease", if you will.
Research is in full swing. The entire project is being basically redone in a new, super-cool way. MORE games have been added to the list. Rules have been established. I already know what the first game I play will be.
Come on, that's an easy hint.
I'm still not going to give a "hard" launch date, because I have my own dumb little reading project underway (more than halfway through, shooting to be done in about two more weeks) that's going on concurrently with this, but it won't be too much longer. I'm itching to dive into this.
So let's say a sufficiently massive introduction/history will be yours for the reading before July is over. If I can, I'll get it to you before the midpoint of the month.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION:
I'm keeping an eye on Ebay, obviously, but if anyone knows of a working Sega Saturn that's up for sale somewhere, shoot me a PM. The project cannot be completed without one.
Thanks!
Here's an instruction manual quote from the old version, just to build some anticipation.
"Playing EditChallenge is kind of like, well, like partying really. You start out in 'XS Club' where you meet all these different people who like to talk about life, love, and of course, INXS videos."
Okay, that's all for now.

The site redesign is done! I'm using Wordpress as my file management system now and I tweaked out a custom template to make it simple and easy to navigate. The 2d-s "banner" has been updated to be a bit sharper, too. All of my old articles are back up and working and Game #1 of the Digital Pictures Project arrived in the mail the other day.

Hey, guys. Thanks for the positive feedback about Chapter 1 of The Digital Pictures Project.
I just wanted to make it known that Chapter 2 just went up.

After two months, the first "Sidenote" snippet of the Digital Pictures Project is up. The sidenotes are intended to be (much) smaller and by and large tangential. This one deals with the Sega CD BIOS music.
Also, it obviously didn't take me two months to write this. I've been compiling some stuff for future sidenotes and working on the Sewer Shark article, which I hope to have up soon.

My friends, the site has been updated for the first time in months. The new article may or may not contain the New Kids On The Block, talking pugs, and multiple masturbation jokes.
Okay, fine. It contains all of those.
Have fun!
