you know what's cool in music? meeting the guys in bands you love and just chatting with them and hanging out like they're just normal people. when i was at this hardcore festival a few weeks ago i found myself moshing with the vocalist from one of my favorite bands ever and then got a hug from him

I just got the original Nuggets box set for my birthday. It's kinda blowing my mind.

I just picked up Neil Young Live at Massey Hall 1971. It's a solo acoustic show that is blowing my mind.
EDIT: Just noticed this was two posts in a row that end in "blowing my mind."

Bought Fun's album based on "Some Nights" being stuck in my head for about two months. It gets cringingly corny in parts, but the music and melodies are solid and catchy. They can also great some great lyrical lines in. Probably my first pop radio purchase since I was 10 years old, and I'm very happy with it.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

Fun is like Queen, except if Freddie Mercury was blowing Lena Dunham.

Yeah overall it is a pretty enjoyable album. Wasn't expecting much when I got it, outside of the two major radio songs, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole thing was good.
Personally the new Jack White album makes me really happy. Not sure what it is about it but I really like it.

I have that album.
The versions of Ohio and the Needle and the Damage Done are amazing.

The rest of the album is probably better, but "Some Nights" is one of those songs that I've heard so much (especially considering nearly all my friends worship Fun.) to the point where I wouldn't be particularly upset if I never have to hear it again.

I can see that. We don't get a huge amount of radio stations out here in the Valley, but if you're in an area with more selection, I can imagine much of the songs seeing much more regular play.
I just dig that Fun is doing something different with pop. I'll admit I'll get a bit tired of one of their hits, then hear Ke$ha or that same fucking Bruno Mars song eight million times in a row, then pray for Fun's catchy pop hooks, time-signature finagling, and decent lyrics over "YOU MAKE FEEL LIKE YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEEEEEEEAH."

My vinyl collection that I started a few months ago is finally starting to grow, now that I have more money to spend on it. At the moment it is just random stuff I like that I happen to find in stores or buy on Amazon or discogs. Also, a bunch of Pink Floyd LPs that my father owned.
For those interested, the spoiler block contains a picture of my collection and a listing in text.
[SPOILER:d99090411a]
LPs arranged by artist then year. Listing from left to right.
Arcade Fire
- Funeral
- The Suburbs (x2)
- Sprawl II & Ready to Start Remix
- Reflektor
Fleet Foxes - s/t
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - LYSFLAtH
The National - Boxer
Pink Floyd
- DSOTM
- Animals
- The Wall (x2, original and 2011 vinyl re-release, respectively)
- Momentary Lapse of Reason
- Delicate Sound of Thunder
Queens of the Stone Age - Like Clockwork...
The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
And yes, that is a PS3 being used as a bookend for my LPs.[/SPOILER:d99090411a]

That Godspeed album is phenomenal. I haven't heard that album by the National but I've been recommended it multiple times. Also, if you're going to use a PS3 as a bookend you should mail it to me because I want to actually use it.

Depeche Mode is awesome! I can't wait. I used to go to sleep to Violator every night for about 2 years.

That was posted back in 2013; the new album Delta Machine has been out for a while now. For the record, I wasn't really a fan of it, as they kept the same awesome new sound developed in Sounds of the Universe but didn't really write any interesting songs to match it (excluding "Soft Touch/Raw Nerve" and, to a lesser extent, "Soothe My Soul").

LYSF is most certainly phenomenal. Recently had a chance to listen to it in full on a nice stereo system, and I massively enjoyed it.

It's a pretty great album. If you don't have time to listen to the whole thing, here's a good track from it.

But then I wouldn't have a bookend for my vinyl.
Also, it'd probably cost about as much as a new PS3 to ship it to you from where I live.
