Today's GameFAQs poll: What's your favorite RPG series?

The winner, by far, is Final Fantasy.

God, people are ignorant.

Dragon Quest is way better.

Depends. Old Dragon Quest games were just ripoffs of old Final Fantasy games, but then Final Fantasy got gayed up. Dragon Quest is better now.

I havne't personally cared for any Final Fantasy games past FF VI, but tons of Final Fantasy fanboys came from VII-on...

I-VI is possibly (and probably) the best string of six game sequels.

Actually, DQ1 predates FF1. FF1 came out in '87 in Japan, DQ1 came out in '86.

And Dragon Warrior III was the best straight RPG on the NES, hands down.

FF2 and FF3 are fairly mediocre, especially in their original NES form. 1 and 4-6 are awesome.

I've had the misfortune of playing FFII on NES, and yeah, it's pretty bad... I didn't think III was too bad, and the DS "remastered"? version doesn't really do it justice.

The DQ/DW series is very good though, fanboys kill most polls these days anyways.

My bad. But yeah, seven is when Final Fantasy got gay. It might've introduced Sephiroth, but all of the other characters in it were lame.

i'm sorry but vincent and cid highwind are both the maeon. Final Fantasy 7 got gay, everyone that liked it became lame and now, much like many people hate SNK fighting games because "capcom did it first" people hate FF7 because "everyone likes ff7 therefore i hate it"

Plus FF12 is like really, really good.

FFXII was made by the Tactics/Vagrant Story team. Of course it's good.

It's like.
The whiny main character isn't even the focus of the game, everytime he starts whining or usually talking at all the camera focuses back on one of the cool characters or fran's ass.

I would have picked Xenogears, but instead picked Lunar. That's still my favorite. I thought it was pretty dumb that FF has a huge lead.

The quality games in the FF series (FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF12, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance) kind of overshadow the crap ones (9, 10, 10-2, FF adventure, Mystic Quest)

I never liked Final Fantasy. Then again, I don't play stupid games.

Personally, I think Suikoden I & II are the best post-NES/SNES RPGs. I loved Suikoden way more than FFVII.

Too bad that series as gone downhill since then. III was okay, IV was crap, and so I haven't bothered with V yet, but I heard that it goes back to the style of I & II.

FF1 and FF2 are two very different games, and I'm not sure FF5 is really like either of them.

Most glaringly, FF5 is character-driven whereas the first two games are not.

And the DS version of FF3 is quite good. I don't generally like remakes, but FF3 DS is good people. Dawn of Souls, on the other hand, is a pile of crap. It's like playing Final Fantasy with fucking kid gloves.

Vagrant Story holds no relevance to the Final Fantasy games. It is a seperate entity.

Suikoden 2 was so awesome, I used to rent it and almost beat it. It sucks that its so pricey nowadays.

Vagrant story takes place in the same place as FF12/Tactics/Tactics advance. It's part of the Ivalice Alliance

FF XIII is being done by the same "genius" behind X-2.

I'm very aware, but nowhere does it say "Final" or "Fantasy". It's a different game, entirely. You're sorely mistaken to hold it in line with the Final Fantasy games.

It's pretty dumb to hate a game because of the fanbase it has...

So I guess half this forum hates Halo because it's a very well balanced multiplayer game, with a solid campaign mode, and rich story?

Again with the Halo. Rolling Eyes

The in-game story is only "rich" when augmented by the fantastic novels.

The game itself is nothing special, nor is the multiplayer. Halo multiplayer is only revered by people who are too fucking lazy to engage in PC gaming. There are dozens of PC FPSes that came well before Halo that offer far more innovate, interesting, and fun multiplayer experiences.
