Syd was kind enough to give me an in, and a few hours later my Circle Pad lost its ability to slide smoothly, making movement and smashes difficult. Coincidence?

So I'm liking Megaman a lot. Also liking Villager much more than I expected.
Link seems like he's better than he's ever been.
Overall this seems to have a faster pace than Brawl, which is nice. Not quite to Melee, speeds, but it doesn't need to be.
I can't fucking wait for the full release.

Better/worse than Brawl? Better/worse than Melee? Is it hard playing on the 3DS? Anything disappointing about it?
Sorry, I have so many questions. Also, I feel like this game is going to kill the activity on the forums even more.

I've heard that game is faster than Brawl and slower than Melee; and that it has caused some folks' 3DS circle pads to break. So don't be too tough on your system!

It's a super limited demo so I can't really judge the whole game. But that said, I feel like I'll end up enjoying this more than Brawl.
It feels very smooth, and combos are satisfying again. I feel like that was lost a lot in Brawl.

All of these reports of breaking thumbpads are just redirecting me to get a Wii U when I decide to get Smash 4.

To be fair, it's two years old and has seen a lot of service. It was inevitable when I decided to be nice and let others try out my special demo.

The demo is awesome, can't wait for the full version in a week. Pakkuman and Little Mac look so fun to use.

Thoughts now that the official game is out? I pre-ordered two copies of the game for my girlfriend's birthday and for myself and it's pretty fantastic. My favorite character so far is probably Mega Man (due to sheer versatility) so far, though Link is markedly improved from pretty much every single one of his previous incarnations.

i have been enjoying the game tremendously. the framerate never slows down. the controls are tight. the pacing is better than brawls. no tripping. the characters seem more balanced than last time. i have no idea how to use villager but his tree owns. peach is still a bit nerfed but not as bad as brawl.

Top Five New Smash Bros Characters, Five Days After Having Owned The Game: A List by Cameron Richter
1. Duck Hunt Dog
2. Yoshi
3. Luigi
4. Link (seriously improved over his previous incarnations)
5. Mega Man
Honorable Mentions go to Pac-Man, Charizard and Mario.
Other thoughts:
-Smash attacks are pretty unpleasant to execute on the 3DS. I miss having a C-stick. Otherwise, the controls are flawless.
-Mr. Game & Watch, Ness and Pikachu appear to be nerfed, which is upsetting.
-I miss Lucas and Snake.
-This is the first Smash Bros. game I've ever owned, so it's my first time actually being able to practice with all of the characters. With that being said, I don't really dig Sheik (fighting characters with Metal status with Sheik is probably the worst thing ever), Little Mac (he doesn't seem to be good at anything other than falling all over the place), Wii Fit Trainer, Marth, Toon Link, Samus, Jigglypuff or Zelda. Everyone else I either enjoy or don't like (but understand the appeal of), excluding the below characters listed.
-I can't seem to wrap my brain around how to properly use Rosalina, Greninja, or the Villager.
-I still haven't unlocked Bowser Jr., Dr. Mario, Ganondorf or R.O.B., so more to come on them.

i never ever used the c-stick for smash hits. probably why i never improved as a player.
using L shoulder button to grab is unintuitive for me. i hardly ever use that button.
i agree ness is nerfed. at least his air moves feel weaker.
pikachu will always be getting nerfed.
little mac is good on omega stages since his game is all about melee hits. if he goes in the air hes fucked.
rosalina is tough to get a handle on. i cant figure out how to use the little luma for attacking, but that seems to be key w/her.
i feel yoshis up smash was nerfed. i dont like the kick. i used to like the head butt better.

As Villager, when you're not collecting every projectile that comes your way to throw it back seconds later, have a tree planted whenever possible. Don't even cut it down unless there's something there for it to fall on. As long as it's up, Down+B is replaced with the axe, which has no startup and is a much better forward attack than forward smash.

I just got it today, not sure it's fair to judge the first few characters I used as it's taken time to get used to the controls (been softer than I need to be on the joystick early on probably due to fears my sausage fingers will break it), but so far I'm really liking Ike.
