How do you feel about NPR?
I never listened to NPR much until about 2 years ago. I've just become oversaturated with what's available around here for radio, so I started digging in. I must say I love it, but not only for the news (which I'm never really sure anymore what to believe when it comes to anything politcally charged), but also the interview shows (Fresh Air), the story shows (Moth Radio Hour, Radiolab), the science/ideas shows (Science Friday, TED Radio Hour), and for some reason I go nuts over Garisson Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion, which I suppose could be best describe as a variety show. They also have game shows involving word puzzles/humor.
These shows vary depending on what your local station (carrier?) broadcasts. I get WRVO out of Syracuse and there's a North Country PR as well. You can also listen to most if not all shows on either NPR or your local station's website.

I enjoy NPR. Programs involving political discussion that is not as excessively toxic as the TV stuff, Science Friday, Car Talk (sad that ended) and many other programs. A Prairie Home Companion can be really good, but sometimes it's a bit too folky for my tastes. I get WSHU out of Connecticut (I am located in Eastern Long Island). I enjoy the Sunday Baroque program they have on that station. There's nothing like a relaxed Sunday morning drive, listening to some classical music.

I never realized how talented that bastard was until Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Agreed. It seems like people are actually present for a discussion and not a face-time challenge with interruption side bonuses. Listening to NPR has really made me come to despise television-based political forums even more.
Even in general, a lot of NPR is entertaining without having to scream photons at my eyeballs, tying up another sense. I miss driving to/from gigs listening to it, especially the BBC stuff around 3-4 AM. They also had some neat musical bumpers.

I truly enjoy npr, for non radio a fair amount and maybe all shows are syndicated into podcasts.

I like the programs just fine, it's the presentation that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's so fucking milquetoast and hilariously over the top sometimes in a way I can't even really describe. It's like the equivalent of a guy in golf clothes with his nose turned up reading the news to me while sipping brandy. It's unbearable sometimes.

I agree with this completely. There is one guy, named David Bouchier, who is particularly ridiculous at times. I think he is English, and when he is going on about stuff you can almost imagine him sitting there in a top hat with a monocle like some aristocrat of old, talking down at everyone.

HOW DARE YOU FORGET DOOGIE HOWSER MD! (On a side note, I watched an awesome movie this week called Old Boy which had Max Casella (his best friend from the show) in a bit part. It was a pleasant surprise.
BUT I DIGEST.
I am not a huge fan of the daily NPR, but I freaking love the nightly Jazz and Blues on the weekends. It's the best. Nice relaxing alternative.

I didn't forget he was in it, I just don't remember the show too well; I haven't watched any of it since it was originally on. I never got into the Harold & Kumar movies and I had only seen bits of How I Met Your Mother, which he's good in, but I had never seen his vocal ability showcased as in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
