Anyone else got the game yet? I bought it yesterday, and I really like it overall.

iPhone games are what you play when you can't get at actual games. You know, like how sometimes alcoholics drink mouthwash. |

The reviews have been pretty tepid. Sell me on it.

Meh, I've learned not to take critics seriously anymore. Sure, there are some reviews I trust not to be biased or bought out by publishers (like those of The Video Game Critic), but overall, I buy a game based on whether it looks like I'll have fun or not, not what the critics have to say about it.

I also would like to be sold on this. I don't even have a 3DS, I just want to believe in my heart that Nintendo is making fantastic games and that a new Yoshi's Island is one of them.

A sequel to by far the worst main-series Mario game that's also getting lambasted by critics? Sounds like a must-miss.

Personally, Yoshi's Island is my favorite Platformer ever, and a lot of critics are biased or have reviews that are bought out, so it's hard to take them seriously. My philosophy is if the game looks fun to YOU personally, then why not give it a chance? Forget Metascores, and whatnot. Buy it from a store like Gamestop. That way, if you don't like it, you can return it for full store credit and buy a different game instead.

Yeah we'll have to agree to disagree on that. Yoshi's Island sits with the SNES Donkey Kong Country games on the "very least enjoyable Nintendo games" list.

Definitely don't buy it new if you want the full credit back. Buy used and I think you have 7-10 days for a full no questions asked refund, in cash even. That's what I do with games I am not sure about

Oh man, two of my favorite games. I don't understand this at all.

So there's this thread on another forum that is a really good discussion of a lot of the reasons I don't like Yoshi's Island (and a lot of people telling me and the folks who agree with me that I'm crazy too) but it's a lot of stuff that would be hard to put in a single post without it being a monster of an unreadable wall so instead I'll just link to that thread:

I can understand frustration with collectibles but not how you could let it get you stressed out. I would put a game down way before it ever got to the point of causing me any stress. You don't have to beat every game you play and you don't have to collect every collectible either. If you are person who feels that you absolutely should collect and do everything there is to beat a game, perhaps you should thoroughly research any games you are thinking of playing to avoid any possible stress. I could understand that not being possible in the past, but with the internet you could easily find out almost anything you could ever want to about most games to avoid shitty/stressful ones.
Avoid the stress! High blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes are not good and stress can lead to them. There are thousands upon thousands of other games you could play that are worth just as much of your time.
Also, I don't like Yoshi's Island because I don't like Yoshi. He is a dumb puffy cheeked motherfucker who willingly allows a drug abusing Italian plumber abuse him and the sick bastard will put anything in his mouth. Yoshi should just put some fishnet stockings and a miniskirt on and whore himself out on the corner of fucking Vanilla Dome Street. He obviously has some serious self-loathing issues. He deserves to be dropped every pit possible.

To each their own. I personally love Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story, so this game looks like a game I'd want to play.

Well yeah that's why I'm not playing it.

I beat this today. I really hated playing it. It pales in comparison to the first Yoshi's Island.
Do yourself and just avoid NYI. There's better games to get.
