Just saw this movie for the first time the other night. I thought it was pretty good. It's a classic sci-fi movie from the seventies, anyone else seen it?

Very long and the later acts get a little weird, but overall a great film.

Made me want to read the books that it was based off of, so yeah it was good I'd say.
Neat to see all the old timey effects and funky 70's concept of the future sets/costumes.

It's a great premise, and it's well acted for the most part. I enjoyed it, but holy hell is it so 70s it makes me giggle!
And the special effects in the beginning and with Box (the bad guy in the ice cave that almost brings the movie down to B-level status) are hilarious, but probably the best they could have done at the time.

It's a shame that Michael York didn't get more great roles after this movie, I think that he and the rest of the acting in this movie is very good.

This is a movie that could really use a remake, but I don't know if it should get one now that remakes are all f***ed out retreads.

It's worth a watch. I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars. Take away a half a star if you can't get over the hilariously 70s effects.

EDIT: Also, there was a TV series based on the movie, which after the one episode I saw wasn't very good. And the theme song is easily the most annoying song in the history of television. Seriously. PEW PEW PEW! PEW PEW PEW! But the pilot episode did have that guy from the Star Trek Episode "Dagger of the Mind".

Yeah, the 70's special effects are always a little funny, however every time they try and remake an old classic with modern special effects I always want to vomit. Mostly because they butcher the story so much in hopes that the special effects upgrades will carry the movie. Sorry, but I think part of the charm a classic movie has is the very fact that the effects are also consistent with the time.

There were some nods to this movie in last night's episode of Community.
Loved this movie as a kid and have the dvd, but haven't watched it in a while. Should remedy that soon.
