This isn't the first time I've expressed that sentiment here. That plum goes to five years ago, when I ran that hundred-poll series. I'm sorry, but I realized when I was a teenager that the games were leagues better than the show on which they were based, even though I had yet to play the sequel at the time.

It's a boxed game with a download code in it, just buy the fucking thing and then buy the digital on Wii U too, you'll have a PS3 eventually anyway.

If the physical product actually includes a disc, then it would justify the extra $5, but it seems all it'll get you is a box and a pin. If that's the case, I'll just download it.

so....

anyone buy this? anyone like it?

i bought it several weeks ago but i just got a chance to play it recently. i loved it. i liked the remixed soundtrack. i liked how they kept most of the map the same. i liked how they kept 'old school' game mechanics (invisible diamonds, regenerating enemies etc etc.)

at first, i didnt care for the 3d backgrounds, but the hand drawn characters won me over. the voices were great. the cut scenes were totally unnecessary but i enjoyed every single second of them.

it felt like discovering a new comic book or cartoon from some of your favorite characters. all in all, i thought it was $15 well spent.

anyone else have any thougts on this? (one minor OCD gripe was that the the terra-firmies didnt have bow ties or four in hands)

My thoughts:

1. Love the voice acting, but the cutscenes get a little old after a few viewings. I wish there was a one button skip for the cutscenes, instead of having to pause THEN skip, or that there was just an action mode where the cutscenes were removed.

2. The boss battles get really old really fast. The only boss battles I enjoyed where Magica and Dracula Duck. The rest were just tedious.

3. The changed ending really sucks. I like the new venue, the rest of it is dumb.

4. The drastically reduced amount of 1UPs makes the game WAY harder.

5. I really wish the ice cream, cake, and 1UP were sprites. The backgrounds too.

6. All the lampshading in the Moon cutscenes made me smile.

WayForward is not very good with other people's IPs. I noticed this with A Boy And His Blob, too. For everything they do right with these games, there's a moment where the programmers thought "Fuck you, original programmers, we can do this better." And they were 100% wrong on that count.

Just downloaded this game recently. From what I've played so far I'm enjoying it a lot, though it is frustrating for me whenever I realize I missed a chance at getting a treasure here and there.

The cutscenes, the voice acting and the various animations are all well done. They're enough to make me fantasize what could've been if the show were still in production today. At least we get a game that in my opinion is a realization of what it would've been like 24 years ago had the technology been as advanced as it is now. You can't say that about many remakes these days.

I just finished the game on Hard, having gotten it for Christmas from my brother. I was originally working on Contra (FINALLY!), but I made it to Stage 4 before he insisted I switch over to it. A significant improvement over the classic, my opinion that the rest of the NES Disney platformers should be redone is officially cemented. I'll have to flip a coin to decide what to do tomorrow: Get back into Contra or start Extreme mode.
