I recently acquired a SNES cart of NBA Jam, which had been a childhood favorite. It's just as awesome as I remember. Dunking with Barkley, scoring in transition with Isiah, making it rain from behind the arc with Reggie Miller, and espousing the aryan supremacy of the master race with Detlef Schrempf.

Any NBA Jam fans out here? Who was your go-to team? Also, has anyone played the new version that came out a few years ago? Is it any good/worth buying?

I spent many hours playing NBA Jam TE on my GameGear back in the day. That one was my favorite for solo play. As far as for playing against others, I loved the arcade version closely followed by the SNES one. My go to team was Phoenix, Majerle was a 3 point shooting machine and Johnson was fast and accurate closer to the hoop.

the new version is not bad at all. basically the same kind of game w/updated rosters & visuals.

I remember playing that game as a kid on a friend's Sega Genesis.

Later on, my cousin bought an arcade machine of that game.

Played it on the Genesis back in the day, and bought it again over the Summer to relive some nostalgia. Used to almost always pick Seattle and control Shawn Kemp for the whole game, with the aforementioned Schrempf as my useless teammate. Sometimes, if I wanted to score as many points as possible, I would pick Golden State, get on fire, and spam three pointers.

Jam was awesome as was its spiritual successor NBA Hangtime.

The one thing I hate about NBA Jam is that Reggie Miller is a poor 3-Point shooter, but great at dunking. WHAT? That's the exact opposite of everything that has ever been reality.
