Well, Nick has released Pete & Pete, and I believe Clarissa explains it all on DVD, is it only a matter of time before they release Doug? I sure as hell hope so..

They never finished either show though.
And I think they stopped producing the old ones.
I don't think Nickelodeon owns the rights to the old episodes. They sold the show to Disney, so Disney probably owns it in its entirety.
Personally, I would LOVE to see You Can't Do That On Televsion on DVD. Unfortunately, that was produced by a Canadian TV station and those bastards have no intent of releasing it on DVD.
I'd also like to see Rocko's Modern Life on DVD.

I don't know if you have the channel, but a cable station called "Nick Toons" FREQUENTLY airs Rocko's Modern Life episodes, i'd say, up to 4-5 a day, I think everyday.

Great channels for some of the old school stuff.

I'm not doubting you, but where did you hear that? Did they actually say that? 'Cause that would be sad.

THERE'S A CHANNEL THAT AIRS ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE!?!?
SWEET. I AM SO TOTALLY LOOKING THAT UP TONIGHT.
*cough* *cough* Disney probably doesn't care about Doug anymore, so I highly doubt they would release it on DVD. Those bastards.

I know someone who broke their toe while watching Doug, so they hate it forever.

Doug was alright, but what I'd really LOVE to find on DVD is Big Wolf on Campus. Unfortunately, it's just another example of a series that, if released on DVD, won't happen for another 10 years yet... kinda like Beverly Hills 90210. Sadly.

Doug.... I liked the Nick and Disney runs.I hope this gets on DVD.
Also, I remember they showed Ren and Stimpy sometimes on MTV2.

Wasn't Doug the first cartoon to promote inter-racial couples?

Well when you have teal people, and purple people falling in love, as well as green brown and peach people fighting for one another...yea I guess you could say it was inter-racial.

I thought making Patty brown was a pretty deliberate attempt by the creator to show her as, if not African, then at least differnt. I think that was a conscious desicion on the part of the writing staff.
The fact Skeeter and Roger were blue and green was for variety.

I think Patty was just supposed to be tanned, not black. That, or she wasn't a natural blonde.

He was black when he became Cousin Skeeter.

So I guess Roger would be Irish? I mean, what with the green skin and red hair?
Now that I think about it, were those kids really only about 11-12 years old? I know it said so on the show, but they always acted older (especially Roger) Bah, Nickelodeon ages never made sense (case in point: The 5th graders on Hey Arnold!).
And I'd love to see the original Doug on DVD, but I never cared for Disney's Doug.

Actually, Nickelodeon does own the rights to some episodes. They own the shows from '91-'94, and then Disney owns the newer Doug series from '96-'99.
Here's an excerpt I found via Wikipedia:
Quote: |
Three parties lay claim to Doug:
Disney for all episodes produced since 1996.
Nickelodeon for all episodes produced for that channel, 1991 to 1994. However, Nickelodeon owns the distribution rights only for North and South America.
Groupe Ellipse, the co-producer of the Nick version, has distribution rights for other parts of the world. |

The ren and stimpy DVD's are great, I just got ahold of most of them, although a few epsiodes have some stuff cut out, the commentary is great.
