This is a thread to come up with key questions about games you care about to ask key players from the company who made the videogame. (I did a similar thing here -click- which is neat to see years later on how some questions became answered through time.) I have a few questions right now; add your own questions to the following:

Nintendo

On Super Mario Sunshine

1) Why was the L-Button decreased trigger function removed on secret levels?
2) Many gamers complained about blue coins. What was the rationale behind putting them into the game? Zelda-influence? Crazy Taxi influence?
3) Why no better blue coin compendium? To sell guide books?
4) Can you tell us more on the rejected nozzles that were cut from the game?
5) There is a soccer ball in the Test Level accessed via Action Replay. Was the soccer mechanics which are retained in regards to the fruit ever considered for a shine mission?
6) What ideas or things did not make the cut?

Capcom

On Resident Evil 4

1) At what point in development of the game was ability to pivot to snap the aiming reticule to the side added?
2) Is it true the game originally had ganados body parts shoot-offable besides the head and was censored due to ESRB concerns?
3) Slow motion was found in the demo. What was the deal with that?
4) Anything that was to be added that did not make deadline?

Namco
Rareware
Microsoft
Sony
Rockstar
Treasure
Sega
Konami
Tecmo
Square
Bioware
THQ
Cave
From Software
EA
Valve
Koei

So no one here has any questions they'd like to ask game developers about their favorite games? Is this for real?

We're just manic and have real life problems/duties that interfere with us caring about this on the same level that you do. Sorry, dude.

Most of my development queries are usually answered, and created, from watching Extra Credits.

I want to ask Nintendo and Square Enix why they won't make a true Super Mario RPG sequel. I mean, they seem to be on good terms now. Hell, Square even developed Mario Sports Mix, Fortune Street, and some other Nintendo games, I think. If they can develop those games, then why not a game that EVERYONE wants, like SMRPG2?

Fixed.

I'm pretty sure SMRPG 2 has far more appeal than Fortune Street or Mario Sports Mix. And you could call any genre niche. Last I checked, the Mario RPGs sold pretty well. I'd say Fortune Street and Mario Sports Mix are just as niche as Super Mario RPG.

I was just arguing that not everyone wants the games. And besides, Paper Mario was basically a SMRPG sequel. It was originally called Super Mario RPG 2, for shit's sake, they just had to change the name because Square wasn't involved and they couldn't legally use the name.

Look at what Square is now, do you honestly WANT that company touching anything Mario related?

Yeah, true. Perhaps Mistwalker could make it, since Hironobu Sakaguchi is the lead developer for them. And Paper Mario was an excellent spiritual sequel, and I know it was named Super Mario RPG 2 early in its development, but I'd still love to see an official sequel. The original still had quite a few differences from the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi Series.

I just added another one for Super Mario Sunshine. The interviewer really should have pressed on about what the additional nozzles were. What other nozzle could they have come up with after creating air suspension (hover), height-soaring (rocket), horizontal-boosting (turbo)? Good mental exercise to imagine up some additional ones.

Quote:
Q: The fact that you can temporarily fly in the sky with the nozzle radically opens up a lot of new gameplay mechanics.

Usui: There were about ten candidates for the type of nozzle which we should use. The FLUDD was actually not one of the favorites, but seemed to work best in a gameplay setting.

Tezuka: The direction of the game would have been too complicated and risky with some of the nozzles we were contemplating.

Usui: There are plenty of shortcuts that can be accessed with the FLUDD. Back to the nozzle point, if this game was not 90% dedicated to the nozzle peripheral, then some of the more complicated nozzles would have been used.
