Capcom's San Diego Comic-Con announcement turned out to be an honest-to-goodness surprise. An all-new Strider has been announced for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and it's in development at Killer Instinct studio Double Helix. That's some cause for concern, I agree, but I'm willing to have some faith in this. It's all I've got!
"Part of Strider's enduring appeal has been blazing fast gameplay, married with deep environment traversal options," reads the announcement. "For the new game, Double Helix and our partner team in Osaka, Japan, concentrated on an ultra-responsive control system, with incredibly satisfying combat options in every traversal context -- standing, running, wall climbing, hanging, aerial and more."
Double Felix is said to be working alongside some of the "original Strider creative leaders," for what it's worth. Either way, it's been such a long wait that it'll be hard to meet expectations. Fingers crossed. This game also opts for a "massive interconnected world" over traditional, linear levels and has a "deep" system for ability upgrades. Sounds good to me.
Corridor running aesthetic mayhem. Seems like Strider was getting shot the shit up but taking barely any damage. Anyhow, I will remain cautiously optimistic since it's an American developer.
