Granted, it's only toward the UK price of PS4 games, but I think it's a safe guess that this will be the new tier of 'HD tax" on games.

The United Kingdom based retail outlet, GAME, has verified that the price of next-gen titles from Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 4 (and presumably the Xbox One) will be raised from £39.99 to £54.99. Development costs and all that jazz.

Well, that equates to over 80 USD, which is ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ABSURD. The games better give me handjobs for at least two months straight for that price. Anyone who pays that much for a single game that is not some special collector's edition or something of the like is a moron.

For an x86-based console, that is ridiculous. Games at that price better be natively 4K.

So $20 more than Wii U games? Hmmm... maybe Nintendo wins this generation after all.

Title says EA games. Not just PS4 games. People are dumb. Sony and Microsoft already said their first party games are $60.

Right, but the question is this: do other third parties follow suit?
Sony and especially Microsoft aren't exactly known for their robust first party software line-ups.

This makes the free to play games look appealing.

I'm actually surprised game prices haven't went up before now, not that I want them to, but this has kind of been a long time coming. I imagine Activision will follow EA but I don't know that too many others will right away. When their games still sell though everyone will up their prices.

I can almost guarantee that EA will charge $80 for hard copies and $60 for Digital Copies. So the whole DRM ban comes with an upped price tag now. They will lose so much business it's not even funny.

When the PS3 Generation begun here in Brazil, the price of some games where over R$300,00(because taxes), considering the minimum wage is about R$680., not everyone could have games right away. Now people may have to sell two kidneys and their most beautiful daughter to pay a game. Not Cool
