I hate Otherside by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Who the fuck wants to listen to a song about some depressed guy wanting to slit his throat? In fact, it's tacky to have songs on the radio about suicide and domestic abuse.

No offense to @om*d, but punk is such a broad and all-inclusive genre that when people say "I hate punk", I take the statement about as seriously as "I hate metal" or "I hate rock".

I am at work right now so I can't give as detailed an explanation as you guys probably want. I knew I was going to be stirring something up in stating that, because a lot of people around here have reading comprehension issues.
I would like to point out that this thread is titled "Things that piss you off" music edition. Cam, I never stated I hate punk. I should also point out that many of my favorite artists across various genres have pissed me off from time to time, or have always pissed me off.
While I enjoy a lot of punk music, the genre as a whole has the most bands ( meaning the individual people who sing and play instruments) that piss me off. And that does not mean all punk bands.
I am perfectly entitled to dislike people but still enjoy their music.

I'm a huge punk fan, but most punk bands are indeed annoying as shit. The genre is absolutely full of pseudo-intellectuals, freshman-in-college politics and general snootiness. There are always the few bands out there that haven't changed and have no in-your-face beliefs, and those are the ones I've always enjoyed.

I get up and notice that the last load of darks is already in the washer, and I think "Oh, my Dad must've just went ahead and did the last load of darks." Apparently they weren't washed, they were just put in the washer. So now the issue is I'm an idiot for not noticing they weren't wet from being washed (I didn't notice in my sleep stupor), but that still raises one question.
Who in the hell would put the last bit of clothes in the washer, but not bother starting the wash? It's not really doing me a favor to do that, it's like...half a favor.

Conversely, just listen to anything that Lulu's ever recorded.

Whoa, eerie. I am not lying--I came in here to make some sort of "eatpork loves CamWin" joke but you kind of beat me to it.
I've never even clicked this thread before, but when I saw the title and that you were the last one to write in it I immediately thought of eatpork. You know, because you were the only one on the site with any taste.

how kids dismiss hip-hop as being all about cars, ladies, and money when at its heart it's a lot closer to punk in ideology. really. you go back and listen to biggie, tribe called quest, N.W.A., and so on, it's all about guys going through rough times growing up in disgusting, dangerous places, and coming out as stronger people with stronger character because of it. it's really dark and gritty and honestly pretty eye-opening about how terrible things were in everywhere from the bronx to oakland and so on.
hell, even saying classic hip-hop is much better than current hip-hop is pretty silly in my opinion. there are plenty of great artists emerging on the scene doing creative and progressive things with the genre. kanye (as much of a douche as he is, he is a damn creative artist and producer), kendrick lamar, frank ocean, so on... stubborn kids are missing out.

why hide up what's undeniably real and eye-opening and, for some people, cathartic and relatable? i guess on the radio i can understand, but a lot of people love darker, grittier music like punk and emo (REAL emo, the emotive hardcore punk from the 90s with hoarse donkey-vocals, not like my chemical romance) because it's so cathartic to listen to music that talks about the shit you know well and have a difficult time dealing with on your own. it's like having a hand on your shoulder.

THANK YOU!
I had a ticket to see Jeff Mangum live, but at the last minute something came up and I wasn't able to go. My heart was broken.

Nuh uh, hipsters like Neutral Milk Hotel so I think they suck also I'm tough and don't listen to a guy singing sad songs.
If I hear this stupid goddamned Bruno Mars song one more time, I'm going to snap and choke like six people
