A message to would-be PS3 thieves in Florida: don't break into someone's house looking for the goods if you're not ready for a good old fashioned sword fight.

Damien Fernandez, swashbuckler, gamer and karate master, was asleep in his bed when two burglars broke into his family's house. Stirred by the sound of the front door being busted, Fernandez got out of bed to find out what was what. When the intruders entered his sister's room (she was hiding in the closet) and found an empty PS3 box, Fernandez turned to his only source of defense, his trusted Samurai sword.

The burglars, intrigued by the PS3 box, ransacked the house looking for the actual PS3. While they were rummaging, Fernandez stabbed one of them with the sword. In Fernandez's words the burglar, "freaked out," and went running out of the house. After one too many games of Soul Caliber, Fernandez chased the man from the house, running after him wielding his mighty sword.

Later when police arrived, they found the man hiding behind a tree. The other burgler escaped un-sword'd.

I did that once but I didn't have a sword, a PS3 or any burglars in my house...hmmm...maybe I didn't do that, but some kid tried stealing my Tiger hand held games in Elementary school and I kicked him in the nuts...thats about the same.

My old roommate scared the crap outta some Jehovah's Witnesses with a sword.

He has a 19th century Katana that his grandfather aquired durring WW2, and gave him as a 18th birthday gift. He was polishing the blade, and managed to slice a huge gouge into his hand. (Real katanas are unbelievably sharp!) He then ran to the kitchen and grabbed a towel to wrap up his hand, and to wipe up the blood. (There was quite alot of it.) This is when the doorbell rang, so he ran to the door and opened it. Bloody katana is one hand, blood soaked towel in the other. The JW at door timidly asked if my roommate knew where is companion was, and my roomie calmly replied, "Yeah, he was here about 5 minutes ago..."

The JW went white as a ghost, muttered something along the lines of "thank you", and then quickly made a retreat from the apartment complex.

Too bad his hearts weren't filled all the way up......he could have taken them out with the sword-bolt.

Swords ALWAYS come in handy. I've written the governor and my state representatives a number of times of legalizing the carrying of swords in public, but especially on mass transit. Of course, then I just get red flagged... Embarrassed
