Donkey Kong Country 2. Looks nice, sounds nice, plays nice, nice levels, has a nice difficulty. It's pretty nice.

I was really hoping they would do something with the difficulty in the new PC release, but instead you get the option to max out your HP, MP and Gil if you get stuck.

Following that logic the first Super Mario platforming game is also overrated, being JUST the first archetypical Platforming Jump and Run.

First post ever here...long time stalker... Metal Gear Solid would be my choice...it combined the nostalgia of the 8-bit games with the new technology in a way that pulled me back into gaming and made games fun again.

Can I name a series rather than a single game?
If so, then the MOTHER/EarthBound series.
If not, then EarthBound. However, I haven't played MOTHER 3 much, and if what the fans are saying are true, it could become my new favorite. Wherever that happens or not remains to be seen.

A lot of Mother fans seem to like Mother 3 more. Personally, I prefer Mother 2/Earthbound; it's comical with a quirky feel to it, and gets emotional when it needs to be. Although it has its zany moments, Mother 3 on the other hand just seems too dark all around for me.

Well since all of my Avatars have been of Kain...
Clearly FFIV is my choice. First RPG I remember playing through as a kid. I remember the Magus sisters being such whores and seriously pissing me off. Also the fight with all four elements.
It had side quests, secrets and great storyline.
I read some of the stuff you guys posted about a remake, the FFIV remake on PSP is pretty good. Plus it has the after years stuff on it, although, I haven't finished my play through of the remade original to play the after years stuff yet.

There's a pretty good chance it's Zelda II.

Hmm, for me it really depends on what kind of dark. I hear that Mother 3 is an more emotional game quite a lot, and what I have seen from what I have already played (up to chapter two) appeals to me. I really hope this game provides good closure to the series, since it has been shown unlikely to have another game any time soon (Shigesato Itoi saying in an interview that there won't be a MOTHER 4, NoA not localising MOTHER 3 for the US).
Oh, and if anyone needs more proof that I am obsessed with MOTHER/EarthBound, I have the soundtrack of all three games in my iTunes library:
That MOTHER 3 soundtrack isn't just some typical rip, by the way. The music was extracted into MIDI files (plus sound font) using special software for much better audio quality than what the GBA usually outputs.

Simple.
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
I could play this game over and over and over. I never get tired of the music, the graphics, and the upgrades/souls/weapons/etc.

It's a toss up between Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Morrowind. If you held a gun to my head and made me choose I would probably pick Castlevania, though.

So many hours lost to Morrowind, as it was the first game I got with my Xbox.

It was my first Xbox game as well. One game I would most definitely approve a HD remake of.

Chrono Trigger. I'm not even an RPG gamer at all, but it happens to be my favorite gam of all-time. Awesome story line, awesome characters and the fact that has to deal with time travel (time travel is one of my interests)... it's my favorite game of all-time.
I'm such a fan of the game that I still have the SNES cartridge of it (I used to have the box for it, but I lost it), the PSX version and the DS version.

Hm. Nostagically speaking, the original FF. It's probably the closest game to my heart. First game I ever beat, and first game I ever really learned the "system" too. So many fond memories of grinding for WEEKS in Elfland. Sucked at the time, but can't help smiling at things like how hard I worked to earn the 45k for the steel armor, only to have it rendered instantly irrelevant by the opal and dragon armor a few days later.
If I could only play one game for the rest of my life, though, it would be Oblivion (if I could play with mods), and Morrowind (out of the box.) Such great stories and wonderful worlds to explore. As much as I liked Skyrim, it was lacking some essential soul both these games had.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I also really miss being able to kill anyone in the game and having to work with it to make the best of things. I usually head to Balmora at the beginning and kill a few people on the same block to take their houses and use them as a base. I really wish you could do that in Oblivion and Skyrim.
