A few days ago, I took Rocksmith to GAME to trade for Halo 4, thinking I'd get £30-40 as it is still £55 new everywhere. To my surprise, the guy behind the counter unashamedly offered me £11 cash or £14 credit. I simply laughed in his face and took my business elsewhere. I hope they hurry up and go bankrupt.

Stores exist to make money, not give you money. Buying your game for 40 and selling it for 45 isn't going to make them money. In fact, that's the kind of business practice that will bankrupt them.

The reason they offer you that is because that's what the game is worth to them. They likely have plenty of sellers at that price - if nobody was trading the game in, it'd be worth more. My guess is, they've got plenty of used copies sitting around. If you can get more somewhere else, go for it.

They didn't have any other copies sitting around, I asked. It's just bizarre to me, GAME is the only game store we have in this country and it's awful. I inqured at a few other shops/ websites and all the offers were in the £30 range.

Ended up selling it on eBay, always the best option.

I've yet to find a reason why visit game retail stores at all. I always get so much better deals online.

You probably don't have GAME in the USA but they are already in administration cause their profits were so shit.

I eagerly await them closing because they are absolute turd.

I just equated it to Gamestop. They pretty much do the same thing.

Have you seen their offer to get a new release for 99p when you trade in two games? The thing is some of the games on the list are really cheap on eBay. I'm tempted to see if I can swap two copies of Left 4 Dead 2 with them for Black Ops 2, I'd make like £20 profit.

Clearly they are incompetent.

For the most part, this. Though I would like to say that I have found some pretty excellent deals in Gamestop's used ten-dollars-or-less bin (like freaking Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Shadows of the Damned for nine and eight bucks, respectively) as well as a video game store about forty miles away from me that specifically lowers their prices to compete with the local Gamestop.

Yeah, the current last-gen sales at Gamestop are crazy. I picked up the holy trinity of Okami/Silent Hill 2/Persona 4 with a PS2 mini console for like $50.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Yeah the Buy 2 Get 2 on the PS2 games was cool. Picked up 8 decent games for 20 bucks.

I just keep old games, unless they're really rare they don't seem to recoup their value until they are more than a few generations behind.

Nes and Snes games in my neck of the wood's second hand market are slowly creeping towards their original prices, obviously stuff that is super common and plentiful like smb/duckhunt will alway be cheap, but getting full sets of Megaman or No... just no. isn't cheap.

You shoulda been like "with all due respect you can suck my balls!"

Never sell your games or music or dvds or anything to stores. They're just out there to take advantage of desperate people. It's not right.

I'm sure the worst video game trade-in offer is whatever GameStop was offering people to trade in Halo 4 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I would guess it was around $20. Which isn't so bad, until you realize they were probably going to sell it for $54.99.

I don't have an Xbox so it wouldn't really benefit me.

Honestly i just avoid the store like the plague. If i'm in the city centre i may pop in and see what is coming out but generally i game mostly on my PC now and the PC selection is shit because of online downloading.

So realistically there is no reason for me to actually go in. When i do want the occasional game for my PS3 i usually just order it from Amazon as it's way cheaper.

I mean i've preordered games in the past (i think it was Rage) from Game online. I paid the shipping so it would be there on release and that day came and the game didn't arrive, a week later and still nothing. Emailed and basically found out they'd lost all their stock and they didn't even bother to email to tell me.

Fuck them.
