My friend works at a theater and let me tag along for the employee screening as a guest. The movie seems like it's better than the first (I never saw the first movie) and the Surfers were awesome (no that's not a typo, there's more than one surfer). My only real complaint has been the hope-meets-dread of Galactus' appearance. All I'm going to go on record is that his appearance in the movie is quite nebulous. I loved the moment when Johnny decides to basically pull a Super Skrull and manifest all four characters powers in combination (this is covered in the trailers so I don't regard it as a spoiler)

*** out of 4.

I finally saw this film about two weeks ago. I liked it. I still think there should be more PG superhero films again... You know, that aren't Zoom and Sky High... Correction, Sky High can stay and I never saw Zoom.

Back to the Fantastic Four, I rewatched the Roger Corman film yesterday. For a long time, that was what superhero movies were. On the plus side, there was much more Doctor Doom in costume actually being evil. However, in this more conservative age, superhero movies have changed, as well as the shows and comics. While "Rise of the Silver Surfer" may not be the greatest film of all time, I did find it to be an enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes. There was great superhero action and the original comic story wasn't nearly as @$$ raped as I thought it would be. There's still plenty of dumb jokes that sneak their way in, but overall the F4 films have proven that they're lighter fare and not afraid to have fun.

Plus, whenever superheroes fight around the world and go to the Great Wall of China, I'm in. Cool
