I found them growing in my yard. I didn't touch them, I was afraid they'd colonize on my skin and devour me or something.

Well, considering that even mycologists won't eat a mushroom they find in the wild unless they're absolutely 100% sure of what it is due to the staggeringly high number of mushroom species that can make you horribly ill and/or kill you, I would advise eating these ones immediately

The closest thing I could find was Scleroderma cepa, which doesn't look that much like them, so I guess they could be anything.

It doesn't matter what they are unless you're planning on licking them.

You should probably put it in your salad and eat it. Probably the least poisonous thing in there.

Based on the color, shape, size, and most importantly, the presence of pine needles in the image posted, I would guess those mushrooms are Suillus luteus or Suillus granulatus, which are both edible.

my cat decided to tackle it...
But what is it? The closest thing on the Rogers Mushrooms website is
Calvatia cyathiformis.

Try poisoning the mushrooms, then dig and cut them out of the ground while wearing gloves. Mushrooms are dangerous.
