Vagina Razz

I figured I would make a post about this current storm. Hopefully everyone in the path is prepared, as it looks like it is going to hit the northeast US, and last year's storm (Irene?) did a shitload of damage. I live in the NY area and I know in CT and upstate NY there was significant damage, flooding and power outages. Make sure if you are in the path that you have some sort of plan or supplies.

Also, two hurricanes hitting the northeast/New England area two years in a row is fucking weird.

Yeah... the news where I live (15 miles inland from the CT shore) is that we are about to be hit hard. Schools are closing, evacuations are occurring in towns on the shore, and people are going nutty at the gas stations and grocery stores.

I moved all of the outdoor fixtures inside and we'll prepare to brace the high winds. The trees still have half their leaves, so I am hopeful that they will shed the leaves rather than be uprooted.

The scary part of this storm is that it is a hybrid, so cold water doesn't reduce its strength. Oh, and that it is 800 miles wide.

Both my parents are currently visiting New York until Wednesday. I know they will be alright as my mother like myself is a qualified geographer so she knows what the deal is. Though not the best circumstances to be in when visiting a different country.

So i'm hoping it's cleared by then so they can actually fly back here.

We're gonna get some wind and some rain and probably lose our fancy electricity for a bit. No biggie.

Most fun part is, I might have to work. Driving a cab.

We're just starting to get clouds and rain in Central PA. These coastal hurricanes just tend to flood us a bit as all the rainwater washes down the mountains.

The NWS released a no-bullshit warning about the storm. It's interesting to hear them be so blunt, but I think some people do need a reality check on storms like these:

I don't care about any evacuation warnngs, I'm not going anywhere.

Most of that has to do with me living in the middle of the desert and having nothing to worry about though.

The largest problem with this storm is that people who don't study weather are trying to interpret radar screenshots as what this storm will be.

For CT at least, rain isn't a big part. We are going to be hit with an 11 foot storm surge on our coastline and 50-80mph sustained winds and 100+mph gusts.

They are predicting that almost the entire state will lose power between this afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Apparently the boardwalk in Atlantic City is gone. Completely gone. It's like a really crappy version of that 2012 movie out there.

Well, my $400 investment is ruined. At least I still have Park Place.

What good will it do you? Without both, you can't build any hotels.

I've moved up to Ohio in the past couple of months. We're suppose to see some Snow tonight from the system and 50+ winds. Hopefully it'll go well for all of you.

This storm has been a major fail for me. No high winds, no power outages, no nothing. I'm fucking bored.

I'm in Union County New Jersey. It's a gaystorm and seems less severe than Irene last year.

8 million people without power.

CT got wrecked hard with wind, but most towns along I91 seemed to avoid the damage. I have no idea why, but my town got lucky and my house had very little damage other than a few shingles lost.

The city where I work took a beating.

I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be, actually being there. My heart goes out to all effected.

My parents flight was cancelled so actually trying to get out of the country is a nightmare in itself. Even i'm feeling the effect of it as i'm having to organise like ten thousand different things.

Not much beyond a huge windstorm here. But, wow, I saw some pictures out of New York.

Same here. A lot of wind and a little bit of snow that's already melting. About it.

EDIT: Also, a lot of fake photos floating around Social Media. Here's a link to the 7 most popular but fake Hurricane Sandy Photos.

One of my parents best friend's sister's house was hit by the surge, it overloaded a circuit breaker and sparked an electrical fire. The family escaped, but the fire department couldn't put out the fire because they couldn't get trucks close enough to the house.

Remember, CT got a lot of wind, and very little rain. So once it lit up, it was only a matter of time before the fire spread and the entire house was razed to the ground.

Friends in Jersey had their home and two cars flooded. The cars were moved to "safe" zones. Insurance has already stated they will not cover the car damage. I don't know the circumstances about the insurance, but without the trains running, they can't get to work.

Most car insurance doesn't cover flood damage unless you specifically purchase flood coverage from what I recall. That really sucks though.
