At this point, most PS3 and 360 games are substandard ports of PC games.

It has been my experience that it is actually the other way around. A good chunk of "new" PC games are just console ports, some only seen after a year being on consoles like the GTA series or Fable. Hell look at Skyrim's shitty PC interface, it was completely designed for consoles and the mouse control barely worked in any menus for the first month while I was still playing it. I don't play Call of Duty but I hear the PC ports of those games were terrible too leaving out things that the console versions had. If you are really unlucky you get Devil May Cry 4 where they didn't even bother to change the display from using 360 controls to PC ones so when you had to do an action sequence it would show red, yellow, green, or blue buttons and you had to figure out what the hell that translated to on the keyboard or plug in a 360 controller.

Beach Bum's got it right. I used to scoff at PC gamers losing their shit on forums/comment sections as typical whiny fanboy nonsense. Then I recently got a semi-alright PC, and was surprised at all of the half-hearted ports, missing DLC, and terrible controls.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

The problem with that is that I don't see anyone with a 360 using Netflix or the extra crap they throw in it. They keep pushing it as multimedia, but games are still its biggest thing

This is patently incorrect: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/xbox-live-game-console-xbox-live,news-14626.html

Also, video game sales in general are down 30% so far from 2011 to
2012.

Before the end of the next generation, someone will be leaving the hardware industry.

Well 2011 saw the launch of the 3DS and PS Vita right? I imagine the numbers are a bit skewed when a new console launches in a year as a ton of people rush out to buy the latest and greatest. I imagine 2012 will be a little higher if the Wii U is anywhere close to as popular as the Wii, even with less than two months on the market in 2012 by the time it comes out in mid-November.

Consoles need to go back to hitting a button for the disc lid to open. That way I can get the stupid disc out without having to turn it on.

I blame technological advancement for all of our woes with console disparities. The console wars of the 90s were the only good ones. Console power was uneven, but all of the major competitors had their own strengths. There were plenty of games you could only play on either one, and this fact actively shaped your tastes in gaming. Now, multiplatform games are the rule, not the exception. We can get games that play largely the same on most of today's platforms, so the only real variable anymore is the level of retardation you have to put up with from each console's install base. Technology got too good, and now the major consoles sans the Wii (and including PC) are all basically the same. And who ultimately paid the price for technology advancing at the stilted pace it did? Nintendo and arcades.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.
