There may be an error or two, someone may not have taken into account a different bundle or whatever, but still very neat to look at.

All this does is remind me how much I hate inflation.

Nintendo has been conpetitively priced in every generation.

There had to be at least one person who paid full price for the 3DO. I wonder if he has taken his own life yet.

If he had held out 6 more months, he would at least have gotten to play Gex.

And people cry and scream that the Wii U is expensive!

I want to see the chart for handhelds.

What's fucking hilarious is that people say the Wii U is expensive, but it's cheaper than both the 360 and PS3 launch prices, even unadjusted for inflation.

But PS3 and 360 are cheaper right now!

Yeah, they're also not nextgen, retards.

The Neo Geo seems unaffected by inflation.

I wouldn't call the Wii U an extreme jump in power over the 360 or PS3. I'm a complete rabid fanboy but I'm trying to be realistic here. There is nothing coming out for it between now and March that shows that it's a gigantic step above 360 or PS3. I'm hoping things get ridiculous Summer 2013 and some absolutely bananas things are announced.

This.

In fact, I think this would make or break wherever I purchase the Wii U, at least near launch day. If else, I'll either wait for the next generation of Nintendo consoles, or just wait to see how the Wii U goes after release for a while before getting one. I definitely won't be getting it right on launch day like I did the 3DS, though.

The final hardware is definitively more powerful than either. Do games look twice as good as 360/PS3 games? No. Two reasons:

1. First gen nextgen games never look as good as they could.
2. How much better can games even look at this point?

And Satire, I hope you don't buy a WiiU at launch. It is rumored that Nintendo is likely under-prepared for this holiday season, so every WiiU that someone else doesn't buy is a better chance of me getting one.

Eh I'll probably do what I did with the Wii and wait till I see one sitting for cheap in a pawnshop or something, I'm not totally swearing off Nitendo or anything like that, but I'm not doing backflips in anticipation of their upcoming stuff either.

Basically when I need a Nitendo fix I power up the SNES or the NES, or an Emulator if need be, only stuff on Wii I really gave more than two glances were the new SMB, new DKC, Zeldo, and that Kirby Yarn Game, which was so cute and sweet I think it gave me diabetes.

I really do want to get excited about a Nintendo product again, I really do. I bought a Gamecube about a year ago, and loved stuff like Prime and Wind Waker.I'm also kind of tired of saying stuff like "The new Zelda/Smash Bros. doesn't seem too different/interesting," Then having fanboys chew me out. Then I'll see them all talking a few months later, and they're all either lukewarm on the game or never finished it. Maybe this time since they'll have ports of the latest games, I could be interested. I don't like supporting Microsoft's business when it comes to things like exclusive DLC or lack of patch support, but on the other hand, I don't want to put my chips into the Sony business tactic of pussing out to MS. I'm keeping my eye on the Wii U, but I want to give it time.

I love Nintendo, but I won't make the same mistake I did with the Wii. I bought one at launch, and it grew dust because the two or three major Nintendo titles that dropped every year were all I played on it. No third party support, no purchase.

Don't count out the Wii U, it's a really powerful console with awesome third party support. All you need to do is look up a few things about it to see that it'll be worth it in the long run. . Ninja Gaiden 3, Metro: Last Light, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Mass Effect 3 (with free DLC that other consoles charged 10 bucks for), Assassin's Creed 3, Black Ops 2, all games that are gonna be on other consoles but this time I get to support Nintendo and their versions instead of getting some shitty watered down and forced motion control Call of Duty game.

Sadly, this.
Nintendo hasn't appealed to me for a bit now. The last time I got super excited for for a Nintendo release was Skyward Sword, while I loved what plot it had, and a couple of the dungeons, overall the game was a pretty poor experience. They tried to force it to be closer to an RPG with the item leveling system which frankly was pointless, the game was easy enough without upgrading anything, and let's not even get started on the backtracking. For me, Wind Waker was the last good Zelda game, I was one of the few that enjoyed the cell-shading and sometimes I did like the traveling aspect.
Though, Zelda aside I'll be waiting before I touch the Wii-U, my brother got a Wii shortly after it launched and we barely used the thing. For a while it became our gamecube when that broke.

This.

The problem with the Wii wasn't lack of first party support or even lack of great third party games. It was that the system wasn't getting the best third party games available on the PS360.

Wii U looks to fix this in a big way.

I bought one in the first few months of the system releasing myself and I barely used it for three or four years. I actually ended up just letting my Mom keep it when I went off to college because I had no reason to play it. I only recently took it back from her to play Monster Hunter, but for the most part it just gathers dust.

I have very little reason to trust that when Sony and MS drop their new consoles there will be any third party support left for the Wii U. Sure the Wii U is probably the most powerful right now and capable of running the newest and greatest games, but what happens when Sony puts out the PS4 or MS puts out the new Xbox and that is no longer the case? I don't want to end up getting burned again, where the game I primarily play on the thing is the one that shipped with the system. I'll be waiting until they prove they can hang in the next gen before buying into the hype again.

At this point, most PS3 and 360 games are substandard ports of PC games. The problem with the Wii was that it didn't allow for substandard PC ports as it could not run many of the game engines that PS360 could.

As long as Wii U is capable of running the same engines as the PS4 and 720, it is unlikely that support will disappear. The other thing that REALLY held back Wii was Nintendo's insistence that non-standard controls be primary controls for Wii games. Wii U will allow companies to use standard controls once again.

Also, I think XBox as a brand is on the way out. MS has spent over a year pushing it as a media center, and it is being used more for than for games. Nextgen will probably be its last, as XBox game sales decline in favor of Netflix usage. If we see an XBox 1080, it will be a media center first and offer Steam and GOG as secondary services.

The problem with that is that I don't see anyone with a 360 using Netflix or the extra crap they throw in it. They keep pushing it as multimedia, but games are still its biggest thing, which may end up as an undoing. Microsoft has no real first-party games beyond Fable and Halo. I'm just wondering where the profit from this multimedia push is going to come from. Looking at my friends list, I see people mostly either playing big name games or Arcade titles. The only one I know that uses Netflix on their 360 is my friend whose laptop crapped out a few days ago.

One thing that Nintendo is going to need to be ready for is lower sales. Not a rip on their business, it's just reality. The Wii sold an assload higher than PS3/360 because of the non-core crowd who didn't follow up after Wii Sports or Fit. It's not a rip on them, it's just that they hit a new market that was found to be unreliable in the long run, while the gamers who are part of their regular upkeep got a bit burned. This time around, they're most likely going to pull in gamers, so I hope that they're not ready for a repeat of the mass Wii excitement of its initial release.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I don't think you quite get what GOG is. It's just a place to get DRM free older PC games. The majority of it's content is pre-1999, hence the "Good Old Games (GOG). It has nothing in common with Steam, there is no software that runs on your computer, no DRM or anything, it's just a website. Think of it as an abandonware website, but you pay for the games and the site has the license to sell these games from their respective publishers.
