Those of you who were registered when I joined in January of 2008 know that just days after I vented to Syd about him not having beaten Journey To Silius, I had something HUGE to get off my chest: How the games in the NES and SNES top 100s stacked up to one another. Starting on February 1 of that year, I did a series of polls comparing 100 pairs of games according to position. I endured a lot of criticism for a good chunk of the project, but I eventually completed it, skipping only one day in the process when a poll ended too close to midnight for me to finish writing the new one before then.
Now, four years later, I have something not quite as big to get off my chest: Who is the favorite selectable boss between the classic and X series of the Mega Man franchise?
Here's how it'll work: For the first eight weeks of the project, There will be three polls, the first two, grouping Robot Masters along with a Stardroid, followed by Mavericks, lasting three days and the last, pitting the winners of the first two against one another, only one. The eight categories, which my brother originally conceived before he abandoned the project and I passionately took over, are as follows: Bomb, Freeze, Strong, Electricity, Projectile, Fire, Steel and Spinning. Once the best of the best have been determined, the eight of them will be grouped in a final poll, lasting a full week, to determine once and for all who the favorite selectable boss is.
It should be noted that not all of the choices will seem to fit in with the others. Yamato Man, for instance, will be Option 6 in Favorite Bomb Robot Master. I know Yamato Spear doesn't actually explode, but a lot of stuff in his level does, a fact it took me far too long to realize, as I kept Knight Man in that group before switching him over to Steel.
The project will begin a week hence, on a date that holds particular significance to me, something our leader did himself seven years ago with one of his articles. Until then!

I had to google stardroid. Did anybody actually play the Game Boy Mega Man games? I mean, I'm sure somebody did, but are stardroids really part of the Mega Man Robot Master cultural landscape?

Are you including MM 9,10 and Mega Man & Bass?
If so, I'm voting Sheep Man

I actually owned that weird Mega Man 3 game for DOS way back in the day. I loved all the other Mega Man games I had, and was too young to really comprehend that another Mega Man could be bad, so in my child logic, I assumed that it's lack of basic functionality and absence of fun were somehow flaws in my own self and the way I played the game. I would always play for half of a level, and then feel inadequate and depressed.

I never owned it but I was sort of the same way with Superman 64. I thought I was playing it wrong somehow. God kids are stupid.

Of course. I wouldn't be a member of these forums if I didn't read your articles.

I know, but I don't expect you to remember every single one. That's cool if you do though.

How could you discount one of your most famous articles? It's basically required reading for the forum.

There is nothing more metal than Shark Man. Not even Metal Man.
