I haven't seen it.

And I always thought that there were a whole bunch of "fodder" people who you never fought that the other guys managed to beat to advance. I mean, in other fighting games it sort of makes sense you can go through everyone (round robin style, I suppose), but in a tournament to the death? There's gotta be a ton more people involved. That's where those skeletons come from.

But how do you explain re-fighting people in the Endurance matches?

Or the fact that no one ever really dies in MK canon, and everyone who does comes back. In fact, the least popular characters (e.g. Nitara, Fujin) are usually written out without dying.

Both can be explained the same way - Shang Tsung is a necromancer.
