Those dead include the gunman and six members of a Sihk church, which is where the shooting took place. The injured include other members of the church and one of the policemen who was trying to take the gunman down.
As of yet, there are no real details on the shooter. It's being treated as domestic terrorism.

It's a shame we aren't perfect like the violence-free countries of Europe.

Alow is just jealous because they have to use pipebombs to do their mass killings.

Well, Ireland has 60 times less people, so normally there should be 60 times less "violent turbulence" ...
US seems to have a surge of shooting sprees recently. It's pretty sad

I fucking swear I'm going to shoot the next person who even hints that the US is too violent and gun-obsessed.
Because Ireland has never seen violent turbulence....
You know...Joshwoodzy called me out. I did incite a response. Honestly i didn't expect the response you gave to be present.
People who are complaining. We will never ever see eye to eye on this issue and where it is trolling to a degree in my personal view there is a degree of truth to what i said.
I will not say i wasn't be a dick or a troll but because they may be those two things it doesn't mean it can't be my opinion. This is simultaneously my opinion and a troll and it's only a troll in that you will disagree with what i think. The USA in my opinion continually has shootings and there is never any change regarding the situation. Every year, same shit, different place. That is what i regard as the truth to the statement even though i am essentially being a dick.
However i think it's the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. If you disagree then fair enough.
I will adamantly say however in reply to all these "oh Ireland/Europe has never had problems":
This is were me and you differ. I will openly admit that Ireland has had trouble and unlike you i WILL criticise that trouble and the problems that has been caused.
I will stand up and say that Northern Ireland has had (and continues to have) some serious fucking shit going down in it and it is fucking wrong. I will say that paramilitaries dragging people out of their houses and beating and killing people should be stopped.
I will say that sectarian marches should be stopped which demean other peoples cultures. I will protest against people who fucking throw stones at the emergency services who are trying to help them.
This is my fucking country and i will admit it has problems and i will discuss them if brought up like a civil fucking human being.
I won't get upset or fucking rage in the comments when someone calls my country out. I will not start pointing my finger at the atrocities carried out in other countries as if they fucking matter with regard to what happens in the country first in question.
I live in the fucking real world and i appreciate and will admit there are problems. I will not defend my country when there are clearly fucked up things going on in it.
So you know what Fighter McWarrior yes Ireland has had trouble.
Yes Cattivo, Europe has had trouble.
But guess what? That doesn't mean that that the issue in the USA magically disappears and the problems in the EU have nothing to do with it. So fucking what if they do?! That doesn't stop people getting killed in the USA and at least i can admit there are problems.
I will never comment in one of these threads again because it's clearly a waste of my time.
Good day.

You mistake me. The point of my post wasn't that the US was perfectly okay while Ireland was terrible. I fully acknowledge that our country has problems, as well as the fact that Ireland has made progress. That's because I'm not as ignorant as you. You read stories like the two from the last couple of weeks and assume that A) they represent some kind of constant problem in the US and B) that it somehow defines our character as a nation. Those are both extremely foolish opinions that explain to me exactly who ignorant you are when it comes to the United States.
What I'm trying to tell you is that saying that the US is some kind of violent, awful place because of rare incidents like this is sort of like saying that the Republic of Ireland is a violent, awful place because of the things that happened in the troubles. It's ignorant of a lot of history and the current state of affairs.

You say we never change. I doubt very seriously that in saying that you were trying to start a serious dialogue about US social issues. But I'll bite anyway. Did you know that in the last 10 years, the violent crime rate in the United States has dropped by almost half? Or that the homicide rate per 100,000 US citizens is the lowest it's been since the 1950s? I doubt it. Because the basis of your opinion is sensational news stories like this and the depiction of American in pop-culture. We're a long way from where we should be (the fact that India and Bangladesh both have lower murder rates than we do is proof enough of that) but to say "we never change" is just stupidity talking.

Next time there's a tragedy in Northern Ireland, should we point and laugh and tell you your laws and culture are to blame? Because while that may not be what you're trying to do, that's how you come off as.
We're well aware of the history of violence in our own country here, and the sticky role that firearms play in American life, and what we can or can't do about these shootings. We don't ignore it. There's just no easy solution. That's why we discuss it.
So maybe, just maybe, when we get sarcastic comments from someone who thinks they have the perfect solution when they come from a place that has history so bloody U2 wrote a hit song about it? Maybe there's gonna be a little backlash.
I don't think your comments are unwelcome, but it's the general rule of everything - if you act like a smug asshole, people are going to respond in kind.
