Namco should bring in Taizo Hori.

Somehow I think he'd be a perfect foil to Captain Falcon.

Is that Dig Dug Guy? We'd be more likely to get Mr. Driller.

I'm still pushing for Mike Jones from StarTropics.

Curb your expectations for a bigger cast.
Quote:
“It isn’t a matter of ‘if the next game has 50 characters, that’ll be enough.’ There is a certain charm to games that have huge casts of playable characters, but they tend to have issues with game balance and it becomes very difficult to fine-tune each character and have them all feel distinctive…. In terms of quantity, we’ve probably already reached the limit of what’s feasible. I think a change of direction may be what’s needed.”

But since when has that ever stopped anyone from begging otherwise and still getting their way?

You have to admit, he has a point.

I think the worst thing that could happen to Super Smash Bros. would be Nintendo jumping on the downloadable content boat and selling players different characters. Didn't they say they were integrating an achievement system into the Wii U? It's only a matter of time....

How does an achievement system translate into mass DLCs

It's fine as long as they hold to their word that any DLC they make is strictly post-release. Frankly, I can't even trust Nintendo to do that anymore.

I know, what with the maelstrom of pre-release DLC Miyamoto and co. have been furiously rolling their dicks around in lately.

Until I see a massive improvement in Nintendo's online infrastructure, I'm skeptical of them moving forward with things like this. Then again, maybe it's exactly their anemic online that's kept them from the stigma of poor DLC practices.

I don't know. The Virtual Console, from what I've heard (I don't have much personal experience with it) sounds like the perfect way to sell and distribute DLC with a little bit of modification.
