I won
But I'm wondering how many people played battle kid too.
It wouldn't be surprising that I won if nobody else played it.

Dang, I wasn't able to get any entries in. By the time I got the emulator working the way it should, stuff started coming up and I couldn't find time to compete.

We decided to shake up things this year by going with an 8 week competition instead of a 10 week one, figured we might see a /little/ bit more participation if it was slightly shorter. As for the closing ceremonies type stuff, unfortunately, the robot's sorta disappeared. It's been 5 days now since we've really heard from him, so hopefully he'll be back soon. I went ahead and updated the final standings, though, lavalarva was /very/ close in his above guess.

Good work, Fern and NS. You two put out a wide variety of challenges. I know it takes a lot of hours to iron out the challenges and come up with save states. Thanks for running one again, even though I couldn't participate this time around.
Though participation didn't really see an uptick, at least multiple people were in the running up until the end. More could have been if they stuck to it.

Final round results:
Super Mario Zero
(11 Not Sure - W3-2)
10 lavalarva - W2-1
9 SSNintendo - W1-1
Battle Kid
10 koakuma - Room 17
9 Ghandi - Room 7
8 Sarge - Backwards several screens
Final standings:
1st: lavalarva - 78 points
2nd: Sarge - 73
3rd: Ghandi - 66
Congratulations once again to lavalarva for winning this thing, who may have had a harder time if his top opponents didn't mysteriously get injured during the course of the competition. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of participation in this one, especially having worked harder to come up with more challenges. Maybe we'll have more luck next time.
In any case, I want to thank Fernin once again for helping come up with challenges, judging and uploading videos, and updating the Sydapedia page. Thank you Vald for stickying and merging the threads. And thank you Syd for the great site and the opportunity to host this thing. Lastly, thanks to all the people who participated in the contest, especially those who stuck it out until the end.

I enjoyed following this challenge, checking out what Not Sure and Fernin came up with, and seeing how everyone did. Nicely done, everyone!

Backwards? Really?
Well I was wondering too which way was the good one.
I hope there will be more people participating next time, at the end of this one it was too easy being first.
You could even get 9 points just by posting something.

it was fun watching the videos, but like always, people just end up flaking out.
make the next one 5 challenges in 5 weeks. that way its not a long commitment & that way there is more competition. just my 2 cents

This was fun! I enjoyed the new format. It definitely added a new element we didn't have before.

This thread was posted before the Challenge, but as you can see, participation there wasn't very strong. Maybe it'll get some more suggestions now that we're through another Challenge:
